re: Dunn is the problem

Maineri is also the problem, but Dunn hasn’t done much in terms of pitcher development. Severely over rated.
i was off the Dunn train several years ago. when i critisized him it did not go well on this board. way too many of our pitchers, starters and relievers, regress the longer he works with them.

It's amazing that cheering for and wanting the team to finish the season strong is now defending the coach.
it's pitiful. it appears that many are simple minded and can't allow for being a fan of the TEAM and not just spewing hate of the coach.

something tells me you don't know the definition of objective.
just because someone doesn't want to immediately burn everything down when you want them to doesn't make them non-objective.
perhaps you are the one that's not objective

he isn't defending him at all. it seems like lots of folks today are either "all in" or "all out". Don is not taking sides and was merely recognizing PM's accomplishments. an intelligent discussion indeed recognizes several factors and eliminates the knee jerk reactions of immaturity.

there is ZERO inevitability in projecting a coaches success

a mock draft. who is so shallow that a mock draft upsets them. maybe they should reevaluate their lives.
re: Blake Money$...I love this kid

he seems to have the tools to become very good out of the pen. he's just a freshman but i find he's very inconsistent and needs to learn. last night he struck out the side one inning and then gave up too many hits in the next. i feel dunn will straighten him out.

Y’all just need to relax and understand the reality of our situation, 17 starters gone from last year, 2 extremely good coaches gone, the best DB in college football was out, and a brand new QB.
"understanding the reality of the situation" is not very prevalent these days. it seems many folks are like toddlers that either get their way or throw a tantrum.
quote:
Last year spoiled us and I almost forgot how dumb our fanbase can really be
one thing i noticed about the really dumb posts since the game ended; they were from posters i haven't seen before. it's like they only come out when we lose a game and then they whine like titty babies. fire the coaches and dump the QB is always their mantra.
it's best to just forget about those idiots. there have been some very good posts one just has to sift through the garbage to find them. yours is certainly one of the very good ones.

he biggest takeaways for me were the O-line not holding their blocks, dropped passes, and the defensive secondary was obviously not prepared. I for one believe these things can be fixed and this team can have a respectable, and perhaps even great, year. I believe the challenges and adversity Brennan faced today will help him be ready for the next game. I’m not bailing on this team.
spot on. this is a measured and realistic reaction.

Yeah, I just read it. This pretty much kills college football for the fall.
if they try to follow these requirements chaos will reign; cheaters will be everywhere and no one will trust the results.
the team that wins the natty will be the team that infects all of their players now so they can field a team in the fall.
hell, the aggies may actually win the SEC.
re: If there is no FB season whether fall or spring how will schools like La Tech
Posted by LSU GrandDad on 7/17/20 at 10:44 am
the answer to your question can be found the the financial reports of a public university. i'm not going to do the work but i strongly suspect that schools like Tech LOSE money on athletics; yes, including football.
it should be easy for the college financial dept. to come up with a calculation on the financial impact of no sports for a year. if, in fact, they do lose money (and require state aid) then suspending sports for a year should not impact the ir bottom line negatively and may actually help it.
now, there is still a cost. all of the employees losing their jobs for a year and the local business revenue lost on game day, etc. and facility maintenance would have to continue.
athletic schollies may have to be suspended also; partially or completely.
i know these measures sound terrible (and they are) but should be considered so as not to endanger the real purpose of the university; that is, EDUCATION.

re: The economic loss of not playing Texas

the Baltimore Ravens just decided to sell 20per cent of their stadium tickets only. season ticket holders will have a lottery and will have ASSIGNED seats.
i think this is the kind of thing we will see.

re: Can schools like Nicholls State survive
Posted by LSU GrandDad on 7/10/20 at 5:41 pm

No. Nicholls State's athletic department budget will be shredded and they will have to make cuts.
nothing against Nicholls but sports are an extracurricular
activity. these small schools need state money plus big school payouts to field teams. it sucks but it won't be the end of the world if they have to suspend sports for a year. hell, it's wasn't that long ago when southeastern disbanded their football team and they are playing again.
the state is also losing revenues so, imo, they should not make up shortfalls for non essential classes. it sucks but shite happens. we are spoiled as frick. in the words of a friend of mine....."life sucks and then you die". deal with it.

Mullen's a damn good coach; he's who i wanted LSU to hire when we canned Miles. of course, i'm glad we hired Orgeron but Mullen would have been damn good too.
people just don't like him very much. he's so nerdy he's kind of creepy.

So are the Ivy League teams that aren’t playing at all this fall having their players lose eligibility? If not, are they going to be allowed to raise scholarship limits next year?
i don't think the Ivy League has scholarships.
quote:
It seems like the NCAA needs to step up, do their job, and make a uniform decision instead of allowing every conference to decide for themselves because it’s about to be a cluster and a complete waste of a season.
i'm not sure the NCAA has the authority to decide which schools play football or how their season is structured.
i'm afraid the year 2020 is going to continue to be a cluster. but if games ARE played i wouldn't consider it a complete waste. the kids like playing it (and they get free school) and we like watching it (even if on TV). sure, it ain't perfect but IT'S FOOTBALL.
re: Do we really want to lose our seniors’ eligibility for a farce of a season?
Posted by LSU GrandDad on 7/9/20 at 5:32 pm
look what happened to college baseball when the seniors did NOT lose their eligibility. you end up with gazillions on players on each team and there's not room for that.
it's a lose/lose deal
