I remember Vince Dooley once said that football pays for everything at almost every school. He said mens's basketball may add a bit, but almost the entire revenue of a school is football.
I'm sure exceptions are Kentucky, UNC, Duke and a few others.
And football still makes more money even at a basketball school like Kentucky.

They made that much money with all of their shitty teams. Hilarious.

IKR?
Think how much we'll bring in, once the football team performs at a higher level.

I mean it's not like we've only won 6 conference titles in all sports since we joined while other schools like LSU have 17...oh wait, it's the OTHER way around.

Not surprising considering A&Ms overall student body is almost double than any other sec school

Serious question.
How do yall drum up that much revenue? It's a tremendous amount of money for being a fairly middle of the road program (I don't mean that as a jab but just speaking truthfully).
I would wager that we have very similar ticket sale numbers for most sports minus basketball.
$75 million in contributions helps tremendously.

Because it's Texas and it's football. Not to mention there are many successful engineers that come out of A&M that donate. The petroleum trade, particularly in Houston and Beaumont, where A&M and its petroleum engineers are well-integrated.
And though the poster showed the difference between A&M and Alabama, the real crown jewel in the state is beating UT -- who came in at #2.
There has been a concerted effort in the state to surpass Texas, and they have. A great deal of that has to do with being the SEC, and another large part has to do with the fact that A&M has a deep, historical and personal grudge against the University of Texas. And they will do anything to show that they are better for leaving them behind.
We're talking decades of being pushed to the side by UT, and all of that pent up anger and irritation of being disrespected by their fellow state school. You bet, that has a lot to do with it. A&M, no longer constrained by Austin and the crap that comes with being in a conference with UT, has now expanded in the ways they always knew they were capable.
Now this is how you melt...

A&M football was the only money-maker. Basketball was close, losing "only" $134K if I remember right from an article I saw earlier today. (Sorry, don't have a link.) No other sport was close to making money.
Edit: I misremembered the OP's link. I have nothing against women's sports, but this is telling:
quote:
A&M's baseball team turned a profit of $1.67 million. Men's basketball, the only sport besides football to receive money for media revenue, tallied a loss of $134,935. Women's basketball, the 2011 national champions, had a deficit of $3.84 million, the most of any A&M program.

You guys probably have the largest alumni base by far in the sec. You've been a large school for a while

That may be and I don't care enough to look into it, but my guess is UF has the largest alumni base.
When I was at A&M during the centennial year ('75-'76) the school published a bunch of silly stats. One that stood out to me was that of ALL the students who had attended A&M over the past 100 years, 1/4 were currently enrolled. And then it was ~32K.
On the other hand, shite I'm old, so nevermind.

We have probably passed UF by now, but most of our Alumni is young and not giving great sums to the school. I think that number is only going to grow over the next 10-15 years.

It is worth a chuckle, especially when the actual number is nearly THREE times LSU right now.
17 vs. 6
17 vs. 6

So much for our 14-15 record revenues being a one time accounting trick.
I guess you missed your cohort admitting that tens of millions of the total is due to a capital campaign that's winding down.
You also should have noticed that your stated football revenue from last fiscal year of $111 million plummeted to $70 million.
