Uhhh when did Clemson or Georgia contribute to this?
lol Georgia started this whole thing. It was a plaintiff in NCAA v. Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma.

the 5 for 5 rule.
There's no legal basis for the 5 for 5 rules. A judge will overturn that next.
Yep, legally the 5 for 5 rule has the same weight as the conference rules that just got passed on it.
Though I guess the conference rules aren't necessarily against the players themselves, its against teams who roster them.

College football is dead as we knew it. Not necessarily because of NIL but because of the unrestricted free agency known as the portal.
Since the inception of the crazy covid rules my fandom has dropped considerably. It does free up some more hunting time so there is that.
I remember the days of the one signing day where you watch an incoming class matriculate through the program and you kept up with the progress of the players. You had a more vested interest in your program because you were able to see it grow with each class. The actual name on the front of the jersey meant as much as the one on the back. Now, it has all gone to crap.
I have started watching the NFL which I NEVER did in the past. I guess if I am going to watch professional athletes I might as well pick an NFL team to follow...at least they have contractual restrictions which can retain players.

I'm not trashing Ole Miss, I'm just saying what you're saying doesn't add up to an outsider.
While I can’t speak for Kiffin, but if money was all he cared about then on paper he had no reason to leave.
But, LSU is a bigger school and naturally easier to recruit to, as was Florida. He had no ties to Oxford so no personal reason to say once his parents died, which was the largest reason why he didn’t go to Auburn.
Yes other schools like Bama, LSU, probably have more money, but we have plenty of our own and so far have been able to meet the demand of the player market. We’re paying 10 million dollars for our backfield. Thats 1/5 of LSU’s vaunted 50 million dollar roster. So cash flow is there, we’ve just got to keep working at shedding the old poor Mississippi perceptions and do so without the NCAA blowing us up.

the SEC should have already left the NCAA after o'bannon and covid is the conclusion that any objective person should have.

So they sign a deal as a wall street analyst, they hate it, they can come back. But get less money in the NFL than they can make in college, and they are burned.
These kids did know that they were granted a fifth year before the preseason camps started. Could've said I'm gonna go back to college then. They didn't.
No, the NCAA asked for this bullshite, they mismanaged it, they opened the door. Dont be mad when people are standing in it.
FTR, I hate ALL of it, transfers, immediate eligibility, NIL, all of it.

You're a fricking liar.
These players didn't voluntarily leave college to go to the NFL draft. That's the distinction. They were forced to leave.

I genuinely have no issue with any player coming back to any school if they are cut in NFL pre season
If you have eligibility left, and the school has an open roster spot, let the kids get some NIL and make another run at the NFL
I know I’m the minority. I just think this is all being overblown. It’s not as if prime Tom Brady is looking to go back to Michigan to get some NIL. It’s 21-22 year olds with eligibility left.

I agree with that to an extent but when the games get going nobody really seems to care. People just want to see good football.
Posted on 8/28/26 at 1:05 pm to koreandawg
People just want to watch football and cheer on their teams. All the lack of loyalty stuff will have zero impact on attendance.

Shocking that such a level headed and reasoned post has so many downvotes… I wonder who they are?

Then it will be semi-pro ball with no association to actual colleges. And that's when I'll be done with it.

Too many of college football's rules are built on tradition and not actual law.
It was a lot better product when tradition was the case.

A democratic society without a moral foundation quickly deteriorates into a tyranny or manipulation by the powerful.

I'm assuming this will do away with the one transfer rule if it is ever instituted. One transfer while in college and one when they're cut by an NFL team.

Nope. You all read any post that doesn't agree with what you are doing as bashing. If a baw wants to come into this post and start talking trash, that's okay. I'll respond in kind. My initial post was my own thoughts and why this whole one and done deal doesn't work. You've evidently contacted a player that's still in the NFL that says he will sign wiht LSU if he's cut this year.
That's my whole point. It's open for these guys to wait until the NFL tells them they can't play and then they go back. As soon as they realized they could play an extra year, why didn't they immediately get off their NFL team and go back. College is just their backup plan.
