Just my thoughts. No trash talk. Just what I see and as objectively as I can see it.

1. If this is truly a one and done, it probably wouldn't be so bad. Would these kids have not gone pro if they had know the rule would change. Maybe. But this opens pandora's box that continues to ruin this sport.

2. First problem I see. What prevents any of these players from actually being on a roster to start the NFL season, never playing in a game, being sent to a practice squad and then going back. If you see there are rules to stop this, well there were rules to stop them from coming back after signing an NFL contract as well.

3. Does anyone in their right mind think some kid in the future isn't gonna leave because he thinks he'll be picked and is just tired of college. He goes, falls in the draft to UDFA or 7th round. Is cut just like these guys and then tries to come back for his fourth or fifth year. This will happen again. There's nothing preventing that now. And does anyone think despite what Lane's saying about it just being that these kids didn't know the rules would change, that he isn't gonna be doing this again in the future. This guy is who he is. He has no concern for the good of the game and is only worried about what's best for him. If he were still at Ole Miss pulling this shite, every LSU fan on here celebrating him now would be crying foul and saying what everyone else is saying. And to be fair, there would be many Ole Miss fans supporting him. I get all of that. But this is not good for college football. Haven't seen one argument showing it is. Are there other teams signing kids from the actual fall camps where preseason games are being played? Maybe so. I think even the ones who signed contracts and participated in the rookie mini camps and OTAs should not be on teams as well. These kids did know that they were granted a fifth year before the preseason camps started. Could've said I'm gonna go back to college then. They didn't.

And LK has said he doesn’t like where this is going, but you either play the system or fall behind. This is especially true when you are building a program.

I think people just need to understand that the college football you knew and loved is dead and gone forever.

This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better and will eventually end with the destruction of the NCAA and a new type of governing agency.

Too many of college football's rules are built on tradition and not actual law.

This will happen again.

After the 2026 season they won't have an argument vs the 5 for 5 rule. The only reason that this whole thing exists is because the 2022 recruiting class wasn't grandfathered in.

He felt bad about leaving Ole Miss too and his heart was torn.

Spare me. The only thing that would stop him is if your AD and Prez grow some nuts and tell him he has to stop it.

As I said a week ago, this isn't going to be a one and done.

We've created a new August transfer portal with this sport, and teams adding cut NFL players is now the norm moving forward.

the 5 for 5 rule.

There's no legal basis for the 5 for 5 rules. A judge will overturn that next.

Not true. You're assuming people will do the right thing. They won't. At least some of them won't.

It's like a group of people got together some time ago and said "You know what, let's frick up college football as much as humanly possible "

And then set out to do it

so it seems like that's your main beef with Lane. because he left Ole Miss. he left for a better job. end of story. even the great Nick Saban told him to take the job.

I'm not assuming anything. What would be the argument for a player to come back from a professional league in the future?

The NCAA should've passed the rule earlier. They were asking for another lawsuit and they got it. Now they're making it complicated and potentially more painful.

If a player in the future turns pro while he has eligibility remaining, he has a made a conscious choice with full knowledge of the eligibility rules. That's a bright line distinction from the current situation.

Same as previous answer. If they take that course, they have now made a new decision while posessing full knowledge of the eligibility rules. It's a bright line and I think the judge would agree that have to avail themselves of their opportunity to return to college now. If there is any doubt, the SEC should ask the judge for clarification on the window to return, make it public knowledge and put this behind them.

This is the root of the problem. So many of the NCAA's rules have no legal basis and a lot of times, they were selectively enforced.

Then people started using the courts to circumvent the NCAA's rules, which began the steady erosion of authority. With no rules, no authority, you get this current product.

You aren't really interested in having an objective conversation because you're blaming this on Lane.

Lane wasn't the one who started the process of using courts to undermine the NCAA, coaches/programs have been doing that awhile now.

Which is why teams like Ole Miss went all in on NIL and such bc we could finally pay like all the blue bloods.

If this is true, why didn't you invest in facilities and coaching staffs like the "blue bloods" did?

I'm not blaming this on Lane. I'm just saying people like Lane are why we have to get it fixed. He's gonna do whatever he can get away with and has no concern with anything else.

Some professional athletes will take steroids if they don't test and have rules for failed tests. Others won't.

Some will always push the loopholes as far as they will go. Others won't. I'm telling you that things will get worse because of coaches like Lane so we need something so we've got what the NFL has so courts can't touch this.
