Not having Clemson vs bama every year would go a long way.

Maybe you should think about your team's lack of contribution in this area before you complain about another team. Just sayin'.

Jjdoc, you make some good points and college football is in serious trouble. I feel, as do the great majority of college football fans, that all that is needed to make NCAA football better is just hotter cheerleaders.

I mean, have you seen some of the cheerleaders lately. Many of them are really short and ugly. If the hotness level could be concentrated on, instead of the can't be over 5ft. tall rule, many, many more fans would come to games.

It was okay, for everyone other than South Carolina fans, until the rest of the country realized how retarded and idiotic you all’s fan base is.... now it’s not really okay, or fun, for anyone.

Is this the real world? WTF is happening? Did a South Carolina fan really just use the term "you all" instead of "y'all" to try to conform to societal norms in a culture that he doesn't belong to?

You are a Southerner, you dumb cocksucker, act like it.

I could see where a Georgia fan would feel that way. If you guys were in the B1G you'd be Michigan.

So Alabama been on top throughout history?

1923-1945 Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas HCs:

- 4 NCs
- 8 conf championships (4 Southern, 4 SEC)
- 82.1 win %, highest in the country
- 4-1-1 in Rose Bowl vs PAC, rest of country combined 5-12

1946-1957 Drew, Whitworth HCs

- won 1 SEC title
- won 53.5% of its games

From 1958-1982, Bryant HC:

- 6 NCs
- 13 SEC titles
- 80.4 win %, highest in the country

1983-1996 Perkins, Curry, Stallings HC:

- 1 NC
- 2 SEC titles, 4 SECC game appearances
- 6 10 win seasons
- 75.4 win %, 6th in the country

1997-2007 (severe scholarship reductions) DuBose, Franchione, Shula, Saban year 1 HCs:

- 1 SEC title
- 3 10 win seasons
- 56.4 win %

2008-2020 Saban HC. (The following in the toughest division of the toughest conf in the nation.)

- 5 NCs
- 6 SEC titles, 7 SECC game appearances
- 12 10 win seasons, 4 undefeated reg seasons, 6 1 loss reg seasons.
- 90.1 win %, 2nd is 84.6
- 70+ win % vs ranked, top 10, top 5 teams.

That is 68 years of the past 97 with a coach who won more than 80% of games. They have the highest win % and the most games won, 818. OU is 2nd with 771, 2nd in SEC UTe 729, UGA 721, LSU 693, UF 660, AU 641.

Even in their 2 down periods for a total of 23 years they won 2 SEC titles.

They have 5 coaches who coached 6 years or more and won more than 80% of their games at Alabama. No other SEC program has even one coach at 80% except UF who has 2, Spurrier and Meyer and UT who has one, Neyland. Most programs are fortunate to have one or 2 who have a win % at 70% or more after 6 or more years.

Much more parity this year, I don’t mind it. I love to see Indiana knock off a top ten team and Georgia contend for the east.

Revise the ineligible receiver downfield rule. Make it so that linemen are only allowed to be no more than one yard past the line of scrimmage like they do in the NFL and strictly enforce that rule. That would do a lot to neutralize RPOs and the massive advantages offenses have over defenses in today's college game.

I've been saying this for 5 years now and it can't be done fast enough.

The continuous running clock mandated in 2008 allowed offenses to go to their HUNH principles. At that point defenses couldn't get off the field, nor mix and match according to down and distance. The RPOs are a simple concept that demands speed to be effective.

Just couldn't happen without the continuous running 40-second clock.

As far as the rest of this thread, please. We are halfway through a 10 game SEC schedule that has let us cannibalize each other. The only thing in "decline" is about 80% of the SEC team's chances of getting to Atlanta.

I don't say 'y'all', and I'm told all the time I do not sound like a Southerner which is like music to my ears. Probably helps my mom is from Ohio.

RPOs aren't the problem. Not enforcing illegal man downfield is the problem. Defenses used to be able to watch offensive linemen to determine if the offense was running or passing. The refs stopped calling illegal man downfield, and those defensive keys went away. Offensive linemen should not be allowed to run block 5 yards downfield on pass plays.

No, RPOs aren't the problem, it's the rules that make them go. QBs are making one simple read and either handing off, keeping, or throwing to their first option most of the time. Look at the freshman QBs who run this stuff in HS and come straight into college football and dominate? It's simple Simone stuff. The continuous speed and eventual fatigue keep defenses on their heels. If the troops stay fresh and can match up in Nickle and Dime, like the old days, the threat of big chunk, explosive plays diminishes greatly. I'm not discounting the OL down the field as an issue as well. But all this ongoing offensive advantage says one thing, the rules makers got what they want and they aren't going back.

Yes. It's all connected.

People stop watching, that revenue drops off.

How the hell can you draft kids to go to college?

This would hold up about 5 mins in a court of law.

I don't think you can have a draft either, but you can limit in other ways to make the sport more competitive.

How in the world is it "connected?"

The numbers. We are not even talking about this year with the covid restrictions. 24 year low number. The difference in population is roughly 80 MILLION more people and doubling the amount of college students each year.

If you don't see an issue......

How the hell are you going to limit something that is extremely subjective to begin with?
