Want to know what makes it hard to play on the road? Play against a good team. Most big stadiums with halfway decent fanbases can make enough noise to cause a few hearing issues.

We can be deafening at Kyle, but if our defense can't hold you under 450 yards then what does it matter?

Yes but teams like Mississippi State rarely get the same atmosphere that Alabama, LSU, Georgia, etc. get when they enter a visiting stadium.

Ask Auburn fans if they've ever seen a home game against MSU approach the type of atmosphere that exists when Georgia or Bama come to town, and I'm sure they'll tell you its like apples and oranges.

I haven't been to MSU since the expansion, but I am impressed with what appears to be the atmosphere on TV now.

When Auburn is highly ranked and another highly ranked team comes into town, I don't think there is a more intimidating place to play in the SEC or even college football for that matter. Anything less than that, however, and it's pretty ordinary sounding in there.

I was at the 2013 Iron Bowl which I think we could all consider the pinnacle of Jordan Harre Stadium (tied probably with this past season). It was incredibly intimidating for sure and an incredible environment. It still didn't beat Death Valley on it's best day.

But as someone posted earlier, LSU has not been living up to its reputation the last few years.

I've been to every SEC stadium except Arkansas and Missouri.

LSU/Florida/Auburn are easily the loudest.
Tennessee is cemented in 4th.

Bama is surprisingly not that rowdy and A&M was so weak that I felt sorry for them.

It is for Alabama. They fricking hate us (mostly in a good way) and it's awesome.

Come to Dan's homecoming game this year and I promise State will climb your list.

Absolutely correct on this...the officials seem to get caught up in it especially in big games.

The SEC obviously needs to look at why this happens at JHS repeatedly in big games.

Of the stadiums I've been to:

LSU and Auburn definitely stood out to me as being the loudest. Georgia and A&M were loud. Bama & Tennessee were surprisingly not that loud. Kentucky was quiet. I do think South Carolina gets a little bit underrated on here in regards to toughest places to play.

Honestly I couldn't be bothered to do the type of deranged yelling we do at AU if I knew we were going to win the national title whether I damaged my vocal cords or not

I think South Carolina is widely regarded by SEC diehards as one of the most consistently energized places to play that isn't necessarily dependent on South Carolina's record or the opponent.

Let's be real. When we say Auburn is the toughest place to play, we're talking about whatever strange voodoo hex they have on that place. For whatever reason teams seem to play their worst games there, and always catch bad bounces while Auburn seems to make miracles happen.
Sure, it's loud, but so are a lot of SEC stadiums. Auburn seems to get help from another dimension in Jordan Hare
