Is College Football In A Death Spiral?
Posted by CAbamafan on 9/15/19 at 4:54 am
Is it just me or is this season really boring?
The SEC teams are all either top 15, or atrocious, with the majority of the conference being terrible. The next Alabama game worth watching isn’t until 10/12 when we play the mediocre Aggies. That’s a month from now.
Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi St, are all games that are hardly worth watching whereas not too long ago these games would’ve been somewhat competitive
All over the country this is happening.
OSU plays nobody. Everyone else in the Big 10 is barely worthy of a power 5 conference.
Clemson plays nobody. Everyone else in the ACC is like a non power 5 team.
The Pac 10 is going the way of the Big East. They’re becoming completely irrelevant.
The Big 12 is a 2-team conference.
Outside of OSU, Clemson, Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU, and Georgia, it seems like everyone else is consistently struggling with non P5 schools.
College football is slowly becoming a joke.
Look for attendance to keep dwindling, and I honestly believe that the programs that are currently dead, will stay that way for the foreseeable future. The marquee programs will continue to keep it alive, but for how much longer if the current trend continues?
The future of college football is looking more and more like it’ll be the top 10 teams, and then a giant trash heap below them

It’s crazy how tough the SEC is compared to other conferences.
LSU just beat the best team in the BiG 12
We have more playoff-worthy teams in the SEC than the rest of the country combined

re: Honest question-Trevor Lawrence or Tua?
Posted by CAbamafan on 9/13/19 at 4:22 pm
In my opinion, Jake Fromm belongs in this conversation. Dude is seriously underrated.
As an NFL GM, I’d take both Fromm and Lawrence over Tua.
Tua is the most accurate, but he needs to prove that he can handle the mental side of playing QB, as well as staying healthy.
I know that Fromm and Lawrence will both have long, successful NFL careers. Tua is a boom or bust type of prospect

I remember Derrick Henry's last season that he got like 80% of the carries the narrative was that Saban runs his players into the ground before they get to the NFL. Now he doesn't play his best players ENOUGH.
That wasn’t me bro. I was saying all season that they should run DHenry more. It took them a long time to figure out they could have him run 30+ times a game and wear a defense down. Glad the coaches finally caught on. They still don’t understand that in Tennessee
Also, speaking of Derrick Henry, it’s a shame that he only started for one season. Another mistake
To think, we could’ve had the Jake Coker/Derrick Henry offense with Lane Kiffin for 2 seasons, and won 2 titles.
Saban blew it. Just saying...

Didn't you get banned from the alabama board for being an idiot?
No I got banned for having too many (correct) controversial opinions.
You were one of the people wanting me banned for saying Tua was better than Hurts in 2017. You’re the fricking idiot.
All of the intelligent posters - banned.
That’s why the board is boring and stagnant now. Opinionated people aren’t allowed

Nick stuck with him as RB1......even though everyone knew Jacobs was even better
Exactly. This is stupidity. His refusal to play Tua in 2017 despite him being significantly better than Jalen is a big reason why Daboll took issue with Saban and left the program.
I don’t get it

and he never started a game at Alabama. Never got the majority of carries in any game. Makes Saban look like an idiot tbh.
People don’t want to admit it, but Saban sucks at fielding his best players.

Auburn did this for the Iron Bowl a few years ago

Isn’t this basically the same shite as last year?
LSU beats the shite out of Georgia, and now they’re legit
LSU wins a hard-fought game against a Big 12 team that’s known for having shite defense, and now they’re world-beaters
Just because the Texas game was fun to watch doesn’t mean that LSU or Texas is a top 5 team.
I think LSU’s good. Probably a top 10 team, but there’s a LONG ways to go, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Alabama beats them by a very similar score as last year.
As for Auburn, don’t make me laugh. They downgraded at QB from a year ago. They seem to have more “magic” this season, but they’re just simply not that talented. They’re likely a 4 loss team at best.

re: If LSU beats Alabama

If LSU beats Alabama it will be time for Saban to step down. In other words, there is absolutely no possibility that this happens
re: The Alabama Duke Game is on upset alert

The challenge in this game, as well as most games Alabama will play this season, is how to best handle a 40 point lead at halftime.

I don’t know why Florida doesn’t let Toney play QB. That’s what he played in HS. He can’t be worse than Franks

Yet another racist POS. You do know the human race originated in Africa, right David Duke? There had to be some miscegenation to create the white race, your racist science aside. It’s clear you believe, as do most sick white supremacists, that Africans and Europeans are not the same species. Yet I bet you claim to be a Christian.
Where to start?
First im not a racist. I believe what the science tells us about race, and using my own common sense. White tail and mule deer are virtually indistinguishable to most people, yet they are different species. You really think that black aborigines and Swedes are the same species? Really? Use your brain. The science is clear on this. The guy who discovered DNA (James Watson) says this. It’s not about being hateful, it’s about being unafraid of the truth.
In fact, there is a common ancestor that all people share from thousands of years ago, which black people do not.
I personally believe that science and facts about race will dilute hatred, whereas hiding the facts will fuel it.
Lastly, I don’t claim to be a Christian. Christians are too closed-minded for my taste

Idk if i cried, but i cant remember ever being more ecstatic than after 2nd & 26 vs Georgia. Probably my highest high from watching football
re: Inside intel on Tua Tagovailoa from opponents speaking candidly about Alabama QB
Posted by CAbamafan on 8/21/19 at 3:19 pm
As others have said, we dropped 440 yards on Clemson. They only had 40 more yards than we did.
Sometimes weird games happen. That’s why most other sports play a best of 5 or 7 to decide the champion. A lot of times the winner of the series gets blown out in one of the games. In one game, anything can happen. It’s not often you see two teams separated by 40 total yards, and 28 points.

After back-to-back seasons of a true freshman QB winning the natty, I’d say that might be an advantage
re: Are Bama fans even scared of UGA at this point?

I don’t think Georgia can beat us right now. That being said, Georgia will be our toughest game outside of Clemson, and anything can happen.
