During the Bryant years it was far worse. Entitlement and complacency had set in for years. Bama had the most friendly and polite football crowd you could find. It became better during the wilderness beginning with DuBose and ending with Shula. Fans even gave a rousing ovation to the 2002 team who played number 2 UGA to a 2 pt loss.

BDS can now be intense for a big game. But the crowd has to get over the temptation to be apprehensive. It's like many who have a lot of success: the dread of losing becomes the big issue vs the joy of winning. The NC game was different though. Many Bama fans have learned to enjoy winning, knowing that nothing lasts forever.

You guys had a good team this year that failed miserably against good teams outside JHS.

Clemson went down to the wire
We won 54-14 vs Miz
We lost to LSU in a close one
52-20 Arky
42-27 A&M
blowout SECCG
close game Bowl game

We didnt fail miserably, 1 bad game, 3 close games and 3 blowouts

You also had a top 10 team heading into the 2 ND half of November in 2016 that failed miserably in the 3 games outside of JHS..

Last year had other factors come to play

The sound doesnt reflect as well as it should for the crowd, but its definitely one of the tops for the SEC still

The hedges would be more fitting, since they were replaced after 2013

That was an awesome game and every game at JHS that year was loud.

I was actually most impressed with the 2012 Auburn/LSU game. The reason why is Auburn was god awful as I'm sure you are aware, yet the stadium was still packed and the fans still vociferous regardless of how terrible Auburn was at the time. Now, it is worth mentioning the game was close throughout, but regardless, the fact the game was still packed is something a lot of fanbases couldn't say in similar situations with their teams.

True, but I was actually thinking of LF/BDS. It was the same at LF. I was there. Don't mean they were never loud, but they were mild compared to most fanbases.

At the 72 17-16 game, AU was dead in the 4th qtr. Behind 16-0, the Bama fans were griping about missing the XP because Bama was a 16 1/2 pt favorite. AU had less than 40 yards of total O and would finish with 80. Bama had totally dominated. The AU fans were much louder than the Bama crowd. Of course I was on the Bama side, so got the full brunt of AU's yelling. But IMO, AU was louder with no hope than Bama fans who were whining about being short of the cover and Coach Bryant not interested in more scoring.

Starkvegas is no joke.. aside from the spanking they laid on us last season, that place has been tough to win at. We barely made it out in 2015 due to them missing a game winning FG. It’s real y’all. Well under Mullen it was.. who knows now

I understand but it looks like it will still be a while. In all seriousness, IMO, he will continue for at least 6 more years, maybe 10. Then thinking of the Miles followup, Bama should have another 5 or 6 free years if they just make a decent hire. So, 12-15 more years at the least :-).

On the bright side, just think of the jubilation when you finally break back through. Not that you won't win until he or his successor is gone. Bama has lost one reg season SEC game every year, 3 in 10, except for 3 years since 08.

You're really pointing out Mizzou,A&M and ArKY victories?

LSU and UCF were failures by any yardstick and some thought the Clemson game was as well (Gus should get a pass IMO)

1-12 in big games outside of JHS isn't a pattern?

I think South Carolina is widely regarded by SEC diehards as one of the most consistently energized places to play that isn't necessarily dependent on South Carolina's record or the opponent.

Yeah there's always a good bit of energy in the stadium. A lot of times the biggest problem is students leaving at halftime. It kills the atmosphere sometimes.

fortunately it was a night game so it could have been worse. Unfortunately, the traffic after the game was some of the worst I've experienced. Took almost 2 hours for me to get out of the parking garage and another almost hour to get out of campus. I was living in ATL at the time and thought I may be able to make it back at a reasonable hour...nope

It had nothing to due with location of the Game. AU got out to a 20 point lead against LSU and Gus let out the air and in the SECCG, it was the third time in four weeks that AU had played a top 2 team. It would be like saying UGA failed miserably against SECW teams because they lost 2 out of last three games against them.

As far as 2016 was concerned, two of those losses were against Bama and OU. That was with the starting QB and RB hurt. I am amazed at posters like you who can not see the forest for the trees.

2012 LSU Auburn was early in the season before we knew Auburn wouldn't be playing football that year
