I agree Corral doesn't deserve the Heisman.

Dak had a chance to win the Heisman, or at least get invited to New York, and put Mississippi State in the inaugural playoff . . . but . . . they - the best team in Mississippi State's putrid football history - got beat by a hobbling Bo Wallace and a Rebel team decimated by injuries.

Yeah the way Dak ended his season was pretty crappy. Wasn't a good look to the Heisman voters.

I started to respond seriously to this but then I realized who OP was. Nice try.

What is it with Matt Corrall that has OM fans so excited? From the few OM games I’ve watched I just don’t understand the Corrall hype. I’d put him several notches down from Kelly as far as recent OM QB’s go.

He only had 234 yards vs MSU plus he threw us an INT. IF not for our WR's having butterfingers (which they had not all year until that game) we win that game.

Did Dak deserve it after going 10-2 and finishing 2nd in the West? His numbers were better than Corral’s.

Different years. You don't simply hit this or that benchmark and get handed the award. You have to stand out from all the others that year.

Does Neal McCready still cover the Rebs? He's another Negative Nellie, used to cover Auburn but I believe they ran him off because he was always critical of everything & everybody

I guess ol' Bubba forgot that even if State catches that TD pass at the end of the first half, Ole Miss scored 14 unanswered to start the second half and would've been up 24-13 going into the fourth.

Look at State's first four second half possessions:
#1 - punt (3 and out)
#2 - punt (3 and out)
#3 - TO on downs at the Ole Miss 40
#4 - TO on downs at midfield

That's winning football, IYAM.

yes, he does. He openly admits to not being an Ole Miss fan which is actually kind of nice because he doesn't have a homer view of things.

Neal doesn't fall into the casual fandom that most beat writers end up doing. His background is straight news so being critical about everything can sometimes come with the territory.

He's typically a pretty solid beat guy for us. You know you're not gonna get sunshine pumped up your arse and I definitely appreciate it.

No he didn't. Matt Corral and every defense he played the last half of the season ended Matt Corral's Heisman chances.

Here's something I learned from actually reading the article: The past 5 QBs to win the award a enraged 55 TDs in their winning seasons. Matt Corral had only 31. Not even close to good enough.

He didn't even lead the SEC in any major statistical category for quarterbacks. Much less the rest of the nation.

Just face it: He didn't have a Heisman worthy season. Has nothing to do with some yokel writing for the Clarion-Ledger sabotaging his chances to win.

Did he just say it or did he express his opinion during the season?

If he's just agreeing with those candidates who are now invited, so what? He's just keeping it real.

Flip it around and say that the beat writer for the major paper in Alabama wrote a negative article about one of Bama's stars a week before they announced who was being invited to Heisman?

Bama wouldn't allow that clown access to the program moving forward.

He should have came back and maybe would have won it next year! NIL'S would have ate him up!

But, kids nowadays want the immediate instead of waiting their turn ..

It was specifically the three interceptions in the Alabama game that did him in. He actually wasn't terrible in the Egg Bowl against a good OM defense, State's defense lost that game.

The comparisons between 2014 Dak and 2021 Corral are pretty valid, though. Both would have been in New York if the award was handed out in October, but fell off a bit toward the end. Still very good seasons, just not Heisman seasons.
