That wasn’t boneheaded. That was shaving points.

Somebody on the other side “got to him” before the game.

just read thorugh and surprised this wasn't mentioned. In 2004 we played a very sloppy game wiht ga tech but hung on to a slim lead late. tech drove down a little bit and is around midfield with a minute or 2 left, and on 4th down reggie ball threw the ball into the damn stands. He thought it was 3rd down.

I wouldn't say that was bonehead at all.

I was actually yelling that exact thing when he did it at the game.

Take the safety, pin them back after the kickoff. Think it went well over his head that there was no way he was getting out of the endzone.

I know I've mentioned it before in another thread, but the 1990 game against then #2 Auburn always comes to my mind on this topic. It's probably because I was listening to it live on radio. But, it was a coaching blunder. We scored a TD really late in the 4th to cut the lead to 17-16. Keep in mind this was six years before OT came into being. Coach Felker decides to kick the XP to tie instead of going for two and the win. The XP gets blocked and we lose anyway.

Rico McGraw running onto the field with his helmet off against Tennessee last year to give them the extra 15 yards was pretty bad as well.

Also the UF fans will have to expound but I believe there was a play in the late '60s against UGA that has literally come to be known as "4th and dumb" lol

"4th and dumb" came in 1976. Both Florida and Georgia came into the game as top 10 teams.

Faced with a fourth-and-one situation at the Gators' own 29-yard-line, coach Doug Dickey decided to go for the first down rather than punt. Gators running back Earl Carr was stopped short by Bulldogs safety Johnny Henderson.

I’d have to watch again, but I don’t think we were pinned that deep, not on the 5 yard line or anything. What made it boneheaded to me was that he didn’t even look up. He was a good runner and there was nobody around him.

Ball bounced on about the 12 yard line. He could have fallen on it. We won so it didn’t matter, but I swear I thought the momentum swung with that play.

I gotcha. I guess what makes me feel like it not being bonehead was myself as well as my buddies sitting with me literally were all yelling the same thing, and he did it.

I guess we are the boneheads too

One that comes to mind is the '01 DSOR. We're down 7 and have driven down the field with time running out and no timeouts. We get down to AU's 1 yard line with like 10 seconds left and we call a run play up the middle..which we didn't get and time ran out.

I was in the endzone stands for this and I've never left a game more frustrated, well maybe '01 UF Terrence edwards drop.

If we can go coaches making boneheaded and unaware calls, Alabama's has to be the screen pass to Scissum.

LSU could probably have pages and pages of responses to this question during Les Miles' tenure.

This one against Texas A&M in 2014 knocked us out of the playoff race. Doh!
