Here's a fact: the Playoff is broken - less broken than the old system, but still broken. It's common knowledge at this point the powers that be will eventually expand, so I say they should go ahead and do it now.

They should just get it over with move to a 16 team system. That would bring a bit more parity in recruiting by increasing the profile of more schools, it would mean all teams are always playing for something, and the best teams will always have a chance to win in the end.

For those who think it dilutes the regular season how do you hold out an undefeated P5 team for Clemson with a loss or ND with a loss or Bama with a loss if the regular season matters?

If any team has no path at all to win a championship the regular season is rendered meaningless and the system must be restructured. It must be.

16 teams is overkill, IMO. I’m down with 8.

I've been good with 8 forever, but not anymore. Just apply that to this year and tell me if it would work.

It wouldn't.

It would work because teams would play more than 6-10 games in a regular year. How do you not get that?

8 is most it should ever go.

- 5 P5 conference champs
- 3 at-larges chosen by BCS
- Ranked 1-8 by BCS
- Top 4 get home games on NYE and NYD
- Remaining 4 play in the rotating bowl system we have now for the CFP

Half the time the 4 seed has been completely outmatched in the Semifinals. The 1 v. 16 and 2 v. 15 etc. would be ugly every single year. 8 is as far as expansion should go

16 is terrible because you'd have 2-3 teams from every power conference getting in every year.

It totally ruins the regular season when you can go freaking 9-3 and still make the playoffs.

Division winners from ACC, b10 , pac and SEC plus top two big12 teams = 10
American winner plus SBC winner = 12.

Just have the cfp sponsor conference title games as a first round playoff series. ND & BYU have to find a conference to be affiliated with. This independent stuff is ridiculous. BYU can be a part time member of the PAC or big12. Seems doable.

it should've always been P5 conference winners with 3 at large. if it were done today:

1 - Bama/FL winner
2 - ND/Clem winner
3 - OSU/NW winner
4 - USC/Oregon winner
5 - OU/ISU winner
6 - Coastal Car.
7 - Cincy
8 - BYU

get rid of rankings because we all know they're subjective and bias based on this weeks rankings. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

We're going to have 4 undefeated teams not going to the playoff. That ruins a regular season much more.

No this is stupid because Bama losing a close game to Florida still deserves an at-large over Coastal frickin' Carolina.

Period.

You want to reward conference champs and then get the 3 best remaining teams -

Use what I wrote above:

- 5 P5 conference champs
- 3 at-larges chosen by BCS
- Ranked 1-8 by BCS
- Top 4 get home games on NYE and NYD
- Remaining 4 play in the rotating bowl system we have now for the CFP

It would put A&M and Notre Dame in if they lost to Clemson. I'd have to look at others in the BCS rankings to put it all together but something like:

1. Bama
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. A&M
5. Notre Dame
6. Cincinnati
7. Indiana
8. Georgia

Teams are limping to the finish line as it is. How many games is too many?

You'd have to cut games out of the regular season. And that would hurt everyone who DOESN'T make the playoffs.

4 is fine. Tell me a team below that that would have had a chance.

Using this year as a basis for designing a playoff system is terrible of course.

I'll take keeping the regular season highly meaningful every year over making it so stupidly big the entire regular season is nothing but a seeding contest.

The computers still use SOS. 5 P5 champs is unbiased 100%. Not all conferences are equal though and that changes over time, so a 1 loss conference title game loser from a really strong conference should absolutely get consideration if a 3 loss Pac 12 champ is getting in.

3 at-larges are chosen by BCS. That's how you make it right.

Then let BCS rank them 1-8

what's funny is the CFP advertises these conferences but would never in a million years let them set foot in the current playoff system.

How is the regular season meaningful if someone can drop a game and get when an undefeated team that doesn't?

If the situation were reversed your biased arse would be the first one screaming Florida should be in the playoff with only one loss in the SEC CG.

GTFO of here with your horseshite.
