Expand the playoffs to 16 and watch Alabama get in 30 years in a row.
Then y'all will start bitching to shorten them.
This isn't about Bama. Get over yourself.
No, it's about dumbasses who think no one gives a shite about games on Rivalry Weekend.

Again, for the umpteenth time, why do you people think, strictly from a football perspective, a shite conference like the Pac-12 deserves a spot?
Everyone wants to include the allegedly Power 5 champs. But not one of you can answer that question.

The other problem with the playoffs is the top 4 teams usually play in their respective league championships and usually the 2 teams that play are highly ranked. The losing team has a pretty good chance of being dropped from the top 4 and teams in positions 5 - 6 slide into the playoffs.
If 8 teams were in the playoff, the losing team form a league would slide but not so far that they did not end up in the top 8.

8 team playoff, P5 champs get an autobid, 3 at large.
Use the old BCS rules for a G5 BCS Buster so a team like an undefeated UCF or Cincinatti this year would get in. Hell, scrap the committee and use the old BCS rankings for that matter with the AP back in the fold in place of the Harris poll.

Makes it a true playoff. Winning your conference should matter. It places a lot of importance on the conference race, making late-season games even more exciting.
It also encourages teams to schedule tough non-conf games because they would be low-risk high-reward. Lose a marquee non-conf game, you can still get in by winning your conference. Win a marquee non-conf game, you now have a shot to get in as a highly ranked at-large even if you lose your conference.

frick you and everyone who suggests this stupidity. All conferences aren't created equal don't deserve an automatic bid. This isn't basketball. ALL at large or nothing at all.
Not all conferences in basketball are created equally either. The ACC is better than America East, but both of their champions receive autobids into the tournament.
I believe that for the long term health of the sport, every team needs to go into the season with a chance at the title. So fricking what if we have to see a first round game where the MAC Champion gets blown out by the ACC Champion? At least they get their chance on the field. No one would be holding a gun to your head and forcing you to watch that game.

No playoff.
No national championship game at all.
Bowls and nothing else.

Forcing teams to win on the field instead of in the hearts of writers is the best thing to ever happen to the SEC. Period.

Yeah I don't care. It's spoiled the game.
There's no situation where, say, Florida should beat Florida State and have fans consider the year a failure because they didn't go to the playoffs.
