I honestly don’t remember much about TCU that year either, but I think quality wins are more important than quality losses.

Well you can have your opinion, and that is fine but you wanted me tto give you a year where there wass controversy over he teams that just missed out who were worthy, and I have clearly done that.

You will see that the playoff is going to expand no mater what you and I want anyway. Colleges get too much money from the government for them not to step in eventually if need be, just like Title IX.

The reason I think it will expand before that happens is all the opting out that top players have started doing for the bowl games. Most of these kids don't care about college football, they care about the NFL.

I’m good with 8, but wouldn’t be opposed to 16

There are rarely more than 3 teams each year with a legit national title chance. However, I think 6 is a good compromise. Winner of each P5 conference gets in plus best G5 team. Use computers or committee to determine that. Seed them and playoff like the NFL. In this system, at least regular season games and winning your conference still mean something, and every faction is at least given a chance. Downside is some really good teams are left out, but that's sports and I'd rather it be determined on the field than by opinion.

That said, if you need an extra weekend to accommodate 6, you can expand to 8.

16 teams is overkill, IMO. I’m down with 8

I disagree. 11 conference champs plus the next 5 best teams. Let's set a bar for conference champs to meet for a qualifier. (To prevent the 6-6 conference champs) If a conference champ doesn't make it, it would be another at large place.

8 games week 1
4 games week 2
2 games week 3
Championship game week 4

Start Jan 1.

8 is the correct number. Take the 5 “Power 5” Champs and 3 Wild Card picks.

8 teams. 5 P5 champs. Highest ranked G5 champion. 2 at large. BCS rankings for seeds. Top 4 home for 1st round. G5 teams must have a shot.

frick you and everyone who suggests this stupidity. All conferences aren't created equal don't deserve an automatic bid. This isn't basketball. ALL at large or nothing at all.

4 team playoff isnt meant to find the best 4 team. It is meant to find the #1 team with a 300% margin of error and let them fight it out. The only real logical reason to expand it is money.

I keep saying this. The Pac-12 is dogshit and really no better than the American. From a purely football standpoint...not TV markets...there's no reason to include them.

Playoffs are dumb anyway. Expanding them even dumber. Expanding them because “G5 must have a shot” is a whole new level of dumb we’ve yet to reach

The only legitimate reason not wanting to expand is being afraid of competition. I mean come on, how did we get the playoff in the first place? There is no way it isn't going to expand. I think the problem is how to tie the bowls in, especially the lesser bowls.

No, some of us just have no interest in seeing Alabama 55-Iowa 10, or Clemson 52-Northwestern 17.

I mean, seriously...does everyone want to see Alabama in the playoffs 20 years in a row???

Your team never was deserving a spot in the playoff. Stop with the expansion of the playoff.

The problem is that the losers of 3/5 of the P5 CCGs would make it every year over the G5 and non-ND independent schools. So, the clamoring G5 would continue to clamor.

The real problem is that FBS is too big. They need to split and cap at between 64-80 schools. The G5 programs, save a few of the more regularly competitive programs and independents, return to FCS or make a seperate division of football.

Then, the "P5s conf champs, plus 3 at large" makes sense and accounts for conference strength and/or a single loss.
