Man the MLB really is financially in trouble to be cutting back that bad. Sounds like the minor league system is too big for them.

Please sweet baby Jesus, let this happen.

They’re finally wisening up to the free development from college that NFL has been taking advantage of for years.

And with college baseball adding scholarships and NIL, going to college makes more sense for these kids. And it actually will benefit MLB in the long run.

NIL about to go crazy. The top programs will only get better while it’ll become less likely that teams like OU make a run in Omaha.

That would be good for us and every SEC team except the bottom feeders like Auburn

Some college baseball will blow up, and that won’t necessarily be a good thing.
Gone will be schools like Pepperdine, Dallas Baptist, Troy, etc, making runs.
It’ll just be the money schools, and everything that has happened to football will happen to baseball.

Yep. How long will it be before MLB teams take over the NIL for certain programs & just use them as farm clubs?

College baseball wouldn't fully blow up until they move the start of the season back a month. That's when you get the interest of the midwest and northeast TV markets.

that'd be sick they also need to adjust the transfer portal to align with the draft or something

I remember the old days when the MLB draft was right in the middle of the CWS.
Made for some seriously conflicting emotions

Exactly. Go slum it in the minors or get paid to live like a king in college.

If this happens, ESPN or Fox HAS to invest more in college baseball viewership. If they advertised and pushed college baseball half as hard as they push softball, it would be a monster in the spring

Teams like OU? lol They’re loaded with MLB talent and have a good NIL program. wtf

That’s a very insightful and intriguing comment. Whether or not a MLB team would invest in a “blue blood” program like LSU or a lesser known program (who needs more NIL $$$) would make it interesting. However, if they did invest in a college team, it would be the end of minor leagues.

It would change the landscape of college baseball more than any other sport.

This would be huge.
I know Texas isnt the only program that deals with massive talent signing and then immediately shipping their talents to the MLB farm system.
This is really going to hurt smaller programs though, may not see any more CC, Cal State, Troy, etc in the CWS anytime soon if this goes through

Maybe they should also try not pushing gay propaganda.

Now we need the Dodgers to partner w/ LSU to fund the Dogers baseball academy at LSU.
