If Saban left after 2021.. to be the head coach at..
[insert any school here] for 200 million over 8 years, all guaranteed.. with a sufficient pool of money to get any assistants he wanted..
How long do you think it would take for him to make the playoffs? Win a NC? Do you think he could do it?
I think he could probably make a nobody program somebody pretty quick.. and as a result, that school would probably make the 200 million back, and then some..
Thoughts?
(and no I don’t mean Texas - I mean a G5 school or a team that is just historically terrible.. like Wake Forest, a school that would only potentially be good because of Saban)

If he went to another large established program, he'd be 3 years from another NC appearance.
If he wanted to build up something from scratch, probably 6 years.

I didn’t mean that. I updated my original post to be more clear. It was meant more as a compliment to Saban and just how good he is.. I feel like he could go anywhere at this point and recreate it all over again..

Quicker than that. Yeah Alabama was a blue blood but we were just coming off of probation when he got here and didn’t have much talent. And he was one 4th quarter performance by Tebow away from playing for a Natty his 2nd year.

25 milllion a year?
I think it takes him 3 years to get the players needed for a run at the NC.
Athletes will flock to him.

A bit is going to depend on scheduling.
He will get the right kind of players, in sufficient numbers to compete, in two full recruiting classes.
Will he necessarily win enough to get that playoff bid in year 2? It could easily come down to playing another team with playoff like talent at home, versus on the road, in year 2.

Would it really take 2 years with the Portal? I would imagine he might get a pretty damn good team in Year 1.. and possibly make a run in Year 2. His name carries that much weight imo..

Saban could not win a title at Miss St, South Carolina, Ole Miss type school.

Pretty quickly now assuming it was at least a mid-level Power 5 school. I think with the transfer portal he would try to turn over the whole roster as fast as possible. He’d have them in contention as soon as he was able to do that.

Their talent level was better than a Vanderbilt or Wake Forest at baseline, though. Alabama also had the means and desire to build up the recruiting and development infrastructure quickly. Most schools below the Top 20 or so don’t have that.

Outside of taking a shot at those schools, do you really believe that? IMO Recruits aren’t going to Alabama because they always win.. they are going there to play for Saban, where every single recruit that has stayed three or four years.. has earned a ring. That’s ridiculous. Not to mention the talent he puts into the NFL every year.. and the numerous scouts that are watching the games..
What he has accomplished is likely substantially higher than even his wildest expectations when he was just a good coach at Michigan State.
