Argue with Vegas. Despite both having 1 loss and being ranked beside each other, Bama’s odds of a natty now stand at +750, while UGA’s have slipped to +1,100. That’s flipped from where they had them last year & is telling about what oddsmakers think of on the field product.

eventually get a statue there.

This is one of the selling points Oxford has, and we hope he understands it.

Kiffin at Florida would need to blow past the Spurrier legacy to get the same treatment. Meyer won two national titles, to Spurrier's one and he is still an after thought to the Spurrier legacy. That might have a lot to do with how he left, but the fact remains.

LSU has fired every coach not named Saban, over the past 40-50 years. Even ones that won a national championships. I am not even sure what it takes to get a statue at LSU, the fanbase is irrational in many ways.

I am not sure another statue will ever be built in Alabama, they have had two legends of coaches in the existence, could be their highest bar out there.

There's a little more to the Meyer story than this, though.

Honestly, I think this is the reason Kiffin coming to LSU is a long shot. Would I love to have him and think he would be a great fit at LSU? Absolutely. But the guy has it made at Ole Miss. The expectations are not that high there and he has full control over what he wants to do. Why would he leave a school that as long as he gets 7-8 wins every year they love him, and go to a school that if he doesn't get 10 wins or make the playoffs every year the fan base calls for his head?

The fact Lane’s built a 10+ win machine hiring Kirkland brand portal dudes while plenty of bigger brands flounder using the old model already tells me the sport’s fundamentally changed. The only exception seems to be Bama

Nah what it proves is he is a better coach than those guys who used to just stack 5 stars to win. Ole Miss doesn't have as much talent on their roster as UGA or Bama and still compete with their conference records.

I have read enough fan sentiment recently that I can assure you if Kiffin keeps playing games Ole Miss will eventually break. Kiffin has always been a 9 wins a year coach. One time when he was not he was busy flirting for the auburn job and that tanked the football team for a solid month. I highly doubt Ole Miss will just let him do that again before they start demanding more accountability.

Kiffin needs to be content and Ole Miss will be content.

The difference in Ole Miss and those blue bloods ?!

I want to change the uniforms to something we've never worn before. Ok, Lane

I want my dog to be the team's mascot and fetch the tee after kickoffs. You got it, Lane.

Even though you pay me around 10 mil a year I'm still gonna frick with other coaches and players and troll them on Twitter. No problem, Lane.

Full control. Blue bloods and their boosters will never allow that shite. I'm not saying he's staying but it's not about the money any more. It's about control.

The reason he’s a better coach is because he’s figured out a better formula. Talented kids on their last stop. Hungrier. Cheaper. And, willing to adopt his nothing to lose style of play. The fact he’s got dudes now playing on Sundays validates OM as a desirable portal destination.

I don't think it's a terrible point, but I'm not sure Kiffin is the benchmark here.

Wouldn't it be someone like Cignetti who has an undefeated team and Indiana just made him a top 3 paid coach? Indiana was a bottom 10 P4 job just 5 years ago

They have won 10 games one time in the history of the school, last year. At least Ole Miss has some history.

Indiana just made a statement that they are willing to pay to win, and they will pay to keep their coach when he certainly would have been offered every single job out there.

Of course this all goes out the window with the quickness if LSU offers to pay his buyout of $15 million and then pay him $12 million a year for example

Your take, with your own hyperbole.

Kiffin himself has said that at this point in life, his happiness isn't tied up in money. He is in a good place personally and with his family in Oxford.

Why can't a dude just be happy where he is without all the drama from fans prognosticating the state of sports?

Why is Bama the exception when they haven't won anything since NIL started? I'm not discounting that Bama has been good, but UGA, OSU and Michigan have all won titles in the NIL/Transfer era and Bama hasn't. UGA was maybe really early in it but Bama hasn't won since Covid and NIL hadn't really gotten off the ground then

That’s a lot of words to ask which job Kiffin takes?

No reason to believe he couldn’t get some interviews for NFL teams as well.

My advice to Lane Kiffin would be to stay in Oxfart. Meeting expectations there is easier than in BR of G'ville.

Oxford used to have all that negativity associated with it... but it really doesn't anymore.

And flat out... Oxford used to be "too small" and "provincial" for a lot of coaches and players. It's still small... but it isn't perceived that way any more.

While Mississippi is a small state... It is right in the middle of all kinds of talent.

The end result is that if Ole Miss can pony up the money for their recruits and transfers.. They can probably compete with most programs for players as long as they are winning.

Because they’re the only ones to have safely & successfully passed the baton from legacy coach to successor during NIL. Michigan flunked. Maybe tOSU & UGA can do the same when the time comes.

Some good points. I don't think he was ever considering FL, but if LSU comes calling he would be dumb not to consider it. Regardless of NIL, you have night games in DV that OM can't come close to matching, no instate talent to compete with and Lane has had to over haul every roster with the portal like a mad man. He can recruit better HS talent here and get plenty of talent with NIL here as well. That is a better way to build a roster IMO.

If Lane Kiffin is still coaching in Oxford in 2026, it becomes a powerful statement about how much college football has changed. It’s not just a coaching decision anymore—it’s a cultural shift. For decades, the sport was built around hierarchy and prestige. There were the blue-blood programs—Alabama, LSU, Florida, Ohio State, Texas—where success was assumed, and then there were everyone else’s programs, where winning big meant your coach would eventually be poached. Staying “small” was unthinkable.

Florida hasn’t done much of anything in almost a couple decades.

Neither Bama or Ohio State have openings.

Being a journeyman coach is a fun ride but at some point you gotta settle down. Besides things could go sideways at Florida fast and then he could be coaching at FAU.
