Gus beat #6 Washington to open the 2018 season at a neutral site. That team went on to win the PAC 12 title and had Chris Petersen as their coach. The next season, Gus opened with Oregon and Justin Herbert as their QB. It was a neutral site game. Gus won that game and Oregon won the PAC 12 title, won the Rose Bowl and finished 12-2 and ranked #6. That was also Bo Nix's first collegiate game and start.

Neither of those teams were Big Six opponents. The only Big Six team Malzahn beat on the road was Tennessee in his first season.

Where does the Gus firing rank amongst the sec’s worst firings?

I think the firing would be alright if the hiring after was better than what we fired. It was obviously not.

We won SEC in 2013, his first season.

We won west in 2017.

We never sniffed anything after that.

We fricked up, but firing Gus was not the frick up.

Hiring Harsin and Freeze back to back was borderline retarded.

Now we are bringing a Pogram to the SEC with Golesh who is taking the team to Siberia to train.

We will be dancing the Kalinka soon- very soon.

and he lost to a godawful Tennessee team at home in 2018, six games after he beat UW to open the season

the only other teams Germy’s Vols beat that year were ETSU (FCS), UTEP (1-11), Charlotte (5-7) and Kentucky (of course)

Yes, but that was $49 million.

Harsin/Freeze set us back a decade.

he also would get out to 14 point leads only to shite the bed and choke the game away. He choked against LSU blowing a 20 point lead and choked against FSU

The proof will be in the results, but this is the first coach since coach Jordan that doesn’t say just stupid shite. I loved Coach Dye, but even he was not exactly eloquent.

If there’s ever a merger between conferences I do worry Auburn could be left out now. You the dumbest mother fricker on the board.
You sound upset.

Can we make an action plan to win over your trust?

Firing him was right. The AD's are what have held Auburn back.

And people were bitching about Jay Jacobs...

He hired Chizik (1 MNC) and Pearl (2 FF) and Butch Thompson (2 CWS), as well as the SB coach I can't remember at the moment who went to a WCWS.

I think you are on to something...

Cohen is just the worst and he has no common sense. No longer than he's been here at Auburn, he has said and done some stupid things and when he gets called out on them, or they backfire, he doubles down. Call it ego/pride but he refuses to admit his wrongs, even when he is literally proven wrong. He and Hugh Freeze shared that same trait.

With you being a Mississippi State fan, maybe you can answer a question that alot of us Auburn fans have been wondering; did John Cohen used to have a severe stuttering problem in the past and he struggles with it at times? To be clear, I'm not making fun of that at all, it's a serious question. Whenever he speaks, he always locks up and closes his eyes for a few seconds and then he will begin speaking again. I've seen people overcome stuttering problems that way. Bo Jackson does the same thing and he was taught that to overcome his problem. Cohen is just a really, really bad public speaker and he fumbles his words all the time. Speaking is like 75% of his job and he's bad at it.

When Cohen introduced Alex Golesh as our next HC, Cohen said "And now to introduce the NUMBER 33 head coach, oh I'm sorry, the 33rd head coach in Auburn football history, Alex Golesh." Smh

We heard that shite from Tennessee and LSU fans after firing Cutcliffe. We had to hire a recruiter to get to work bringing in talent even though he needed an interpreter

I know what you mean. Don’t know if he had a stuttering problem at some point but anytime he has to say more than a sentence at a time he gets mush-mouthed, like his tongue is too big for his mouth

There were Auburn fans here who celebrated “stealing” Cohen from Mississippi State.

You can’t lose that many bowl games and then get run off the field by 30points to your rival and think a fanbase is going to give more time.

Gus had more success than most Auburn coaches. He is a top 4 all time coach for Auburn. It is not just a coaching issue at Auburn. It is a “fambly” issue. It is a geographic issue. It is a money issue. Will Golesh be an upgrade over Freeze? Probably, he can’t be much worse. Will Goleah have the success that Auburn fans want? Probably not, and eventually he will leave for a better opportunity or get fired.
