I love former coaches, but I’ve never seen a fanbase as obsessed as LSU.

Go look at the MSB and there’s like a cult following for Will Wade. I think it’s cool that he’s got McNeese where he does, but he set LSU back with the blatantly obvious cheating. You gotta be better at it than that.

If he knew how to stay clean and wasn’t a dumbass, LSU would be a tourney team for the foreseeable future.

I am still angry at the way Will Wade was treated by LSU. What a travesty. He deserved better.

It wouldn't be illegal today and it was never illegal at Bama

If you bothered to read the IARP report you would know that they found no evidence that he paid any players at LSU. The only payment they found was to the ex-fiance of a former player at VCU who extorted it out of him.

Wade had us in the tournament every year after his first season. That might not amount to much at a place like UK but it's unprecedented at LSU. He was on track to accomplish more in a shorter span of time than any of our previous MBB coaches. That's what the "obsession" as you put it stems from.

He was wire tapped, along with many other coaches, they didnt know any better. They were all doing similar things a bunch of other coaches also did to get talent to their respective places, just some guys got wiretapped.

Everyone else pretty much stood by their coaches, we blew our program up having a really good thing going and now Wade took a complete nobody in McNeese and made them relevant in his 1st season there. He will be at a big time job again if not next season probably by 2025-2026 season. Dude just knows exactly how to recruit, portal, schedule, coach etc in todays game.

How you figure that? Didn't even get any penalties from the NCAA really. The only thing that set us back was the entire roster left when he did.

I still maintain that it was bullshite we fired Freeze. He should have been suspended for the season and then we move on. It’s worked out in the long run for us because we got Kiffin but I am still pissed we fired him

I’m gonna have to hard agree on this one.
Our (message board) fans are retarded.

There were people screaming fire McMahon when he first stepped foot in BR.

We completely fricked up that entire situation.

Yup.

Everyone else basically ignored the NCAA and told them to frick off.

Alleva suspends Wade immediately.

LSU fricked all of it up.

And in a year Wade will be at a power 5 coaching.

Wade didn’t give a frick about what anyone thought and he just won games. Of course LSU fans loved him. I think we have a good coach though right now and look forward to seeing what he can do in the future.

I don't particularly care for Wade, but it would be pretty damn funny if Oats left us for a blueblood and we hired Wade to replace him.

It's fricking bizarre. I've never seen anything like it. There's a segment of folks presenting themselves as LSU fans, but are really just Will Wade fans. The weirdest thing to me is that many of them really believe if Woodward fires McMahon, he'll rehire Wade.

You've posted more about Will Wade than any 2 LSU fans combined.

"Knew how to stay clean"? Explain the difference between what Coach Wade did & what Kansas' Bill Self, head coach, did, recruiting wise. No Wade fan but he was treated significantly different than Self. UK's Coach Cal got 2 different programs put on probation, to the extent both forfeited wins & had to repay a lot of money. He seriously didn't know what was going on, day by day by day with Derrick Rose's recruitment? That's a lot of what is behind many LSU's fans feelings about Wade.
