Pittman was awesome. We've never seen an OL recruiter like him before or since.

The Pitboss. We loved him

I got to speak with Pitt a few times when he was at UGA. Most authentic, wonderful person. Will always be a fan of his and of Arkansas for letting him have a chance to be a HC; 20 years ago, he could’ve been a 10-15 year longevity guy at Arkansas because of his ability to communicate with families and his players (back when relationships were the main thing that mattered). Just happened to get his opportunity as the worm turned with NIL and the portal which mitigated the natural advantages he brought to the role.

A good guy but his rep was he was lazy. He got that rep in his younger days.

Sam Pittman was taking over an Arkansas program that qualified as the bottom feeder of the SEC.
Since Ratledge had not yet committed to any program, there was nothing unethical about talking to him about his potential choice.
Mark Richt once called up Sylvester Croom and asked him to consider taking Jamar Chaney after an SAT testing score issue became a sticking point at Georgia.
I'm quite sure that there have been plenty of other referral situations over the years.

I think you are misdirecting your frustration. No elite offensive lineman were going to switch from Georgia to Arkansas bc of Pittman. They were going to switch from Georgia to another school if Pittman didn’t say something to them.
Arkansas was coming off of back to back 2-10 seasons with that retard Chad Morris. No serious 5 star recruits were considering the hogs.

He was a very good offensive line recruiter during the Bert years.
But his offensive line hires were terrible as head coach.

After Sam Pittman took the Arkansas head coaching job, he took the time to call Tate Ratledge and tell the elite lineman to stick with Georgia.
So, UGA fans must have hated Kirby when he took pictures of Alabama's recruiting board upon leaving.
I mean....I'm sure Georgia fans are morally consistent on this issue.

He certainly isn't as energetic as Ryan Silverfield.

I would like to congratulate Sam Pittman for leaving the program exactly the way he found it.
0-8.

Are you claiming that Georgia had no clue about which players Saban was trying to recruit in the first place?
The only thing that Kirby definitely took with him to Georgia was the way that Saban stressed to potential recruits that Georgia didn't have a decent indoor football practice facility. And Kirby made it a "must have" part of his deal to come to Georgia.

Are you kidding?
In his second year Pittman beat LSU, Texas, aTm and Missouri all in the same season.
Name another Arkansas coach who beat all of the historic rivalries in the same season?
Hint: Frank Broyles is rolling in his grave.
