Kirby Smart Is Not Fighting NIL. He Is Fighting Stupidity.

There was a good article from Dawn of the Dawg that hit on a lot of things we have been talking about lately when it comes to Georgia, Kirby Smart, NIL, recruiting, and the direction of college football. Here is the article if you want to read it:

The basic point is this: Kirby Smart is not pretending NIL does not exist. He is not sitting in Athens with his arms crossed, yelling at the clouds, wishing college football would go back to 1998. He knows exactly what world he is living in. But he is also not going to let Georgia turn into a flea market where the highest bidder gets the player, the player gets a check, everybody smiles for a signing-day photo, and then six months later the same player is back in the portal looking for the next deal.
That is not building a program. That is renting one. And Kirby Smart has never been in the rental business.
Georgia’s approach seems pretty clear. They are willing to reward players. They are willing to take care of players. They are willing to use NIL. But Kirby does not seem very interested in handing a giant bag of money to a high school kid before that kid has ever gone through a Georgia practice, played a snap in the SEC, or proven he actually wants to be part of the culture. And honestly, I respect that.
