That Auburn team was crazy. I remember watching LSU put it on them in the rain in tiger stadium. It rained multiple games that year in Baton Rouge if I remember correctly.
The Georgia hail mary and the kick 6 were two improbable plays. I cant lie I was pulling for Auburn to pull it off. FSU was too good that year.

Don't get your panties in a wad. It's a well known expression that has been used in sports since teams started using signals. A guy on second is relaying signs to the batter. They say he is "stealing signs". They don't say "He is observing and relaying the catcher's signals to the batter". The sign is meant to be only between the pitcher and catcher and the opposing team "steals" it while being communicated. Everyone knows what that means (almost everyone i guess)

Wrong. He was accused of rape in 2012 by a fellow FSU freshman, back when he was a redshirt freshman who few people had even heard of. That was back when they had such thing as a redshirt freshman in order to preserve eligibility. IDK if anybody even bothers redshirting freshmen anymore because everybody always seems to be allowed to play until age 26 or 27 nowadays even if they didn't redshirt as freshmen.

I know what your saying, I just don't agree with it. Trying to change the mindset of the world. I think when you send a coach to other teams games and practices with the objective of figuring out what the signs are and what they mean, that is stealing. I would just like for people not to conflate the two because one is just smart ball and the other is not ethical.

This is exactly why I don't get the SEC SEC SEC crap. My team does not benefit if uga or bama win a championship. It actually makes things harder on us.

People are going to make their decision (which means nothing in the grand scheme) based on the parties that are involved and what they already want to think, not because of some sports idiom that has been around since sports have been in existence. You could call it whatever you want and someone is going to assign nefarious motives to who they want to. Minds will not be changed.

Auburn absolutely choked in the second half. They had all of the momentum and went brain dead.

Perception becomes reality, you tie up Saban's Bama for natties in your own state for the 2010s by that point with that Malzahn offense, with the resources and donors Auburn has. You show those two natty trophies and iconic moments to recruits out of AL and west Georgia, Atlanta, you at the very least come close to what Saban does with recruiting success and sustain those caliber of seasons. Likely remake the Iron Bowl into the pressure cooker it was in the 1980s.

Auburn had the 5th best recruiting class in 14, 6th best in 15, 11th in 16, and 9th 17. He had the horses.

Nothing would’ve changed if Barn wins that game, nothing. There’s a reason they have only ever won 10 games back to back once in their history. They can’t get out of their own way. They wouldn’t have sustained shite even winning that game.

I was sitting with my wife in the South EZ pleading with Gus to “watch for the fake pun”. After watching his following years coaching, I now believe if he could have heard me he would have ignored me because he was the smartest man in the stadium.
As to the ranked recruiting classes over the years that followed, I think the ratings reflected the individual recruits and did not indicate a well mixed recruit class.

Good point. That is why I say they knew it was do or die. We had them on the ropes defensively, and I truly believe we would have ran it down their throats for another TD and totally demoralized them if they would have actually punted.
But as you said Gus got scared and showed that he was Tubershell 2.0 when he got more than a 2 score lead.

Florida State had a great team and I was rooting for them, but I expected Auburn to win. Aub looked like a team of destiny. They had FSU on the ropes.

Special teams cost us that game. Overlooked the least sexy 1/3 of football.
