Fairley is "responsible" for playing within the rules.

And that is waht he did, save one play that was correctly penalized for.

You want to hold me to something...here...I would be in favor of changing the rules so that QB's should not be allowed to be driven down like they are. There should be massive more protection rules for QB's after the ball is thrown.

Until then...

I watched both big hits and I'm convinced Fairley was intentionally hitting a defenseless QB Murray. He saw the release of the ball on both plays. On the dive, he looks up at the last second at the QB and then dives backwards and low to smash his shin.

Chaz Ramsey. However, the Auburn coaching staff was very mature and responsible and suspended him for two games.....just kidding, the kid never sat until he received a CAREER ENDING INJURY

and nobody is saying that the chop block a few years ago wasn't a bad play, but to say every play that you guys are talking about are dirty is just absurd. The knee hit was very unfortunate but not intentional, Fairley had his legs completely taken out from under him. The first hit in the original video is definitely borderline late hit but is a bang bang play and could be called either way, but it was not a dirty hit.

in your opinion, could a penalty have been called on some of those plays?

i think that most in this thread think that a penalty should have been called when one wasn't. That is a big beef of theirs.

That is why not one SEC coach has contacted the SEC office this whole season to complain.

According to Danielson multiple SEC coaches pointed Fairley's dirty play out to him and asked them to watch for it and highlight it

I love the sudden respect for the refs that Auburn fans now have.

Please go back and review the "dirty" hits the Bammer posted earlier in this thread. This time, watch where the referee is on the play and watch what he is doing.

Fairley is playing hard and to the whistle. With the exception of the spearing against Murray, everything he's done is within the rules. Don't like it? Change the rules. In the meantime, please stop bitching.

Hmmm....not the way I see it. I guess "the helmets are stuck together" play was also unintentional?

"GoCrazy" and keep defending the indefensible, just like we did with Tyson Jackson (oh, wait, we were very grown about that) - ya'll are "All In", right?

I can only think that unneccesarry roughness could be called.

i dont like that penalty because football by nature is a violent game and that penatly is a judgement call. These players are trained and built up to be these monsters of rage and that penalty is a bit of a contradiction.

I laughed when Danielson said that.

not parkjas, but yes, a penalty COULD have been called on the first hit Fairley had, but it just as easily couldn't have been called and wasn't. It wasn't dirty, just a play where he may have been late, but it wasn't just obvious and it could go either way.

the hit on the knee was not a penalty, just unfortunate.

It was unfortunate but Fairley did a title belt dance and Trooper Taylor did a chestbump with him on the sideline to celebrate?

Yea, him acting like he was putting on some heavyweight title belt and motioning to the crowd to cheer as the brawl was going on might have been the most thug thing he did in that game.

I think a penalty should have been called on the first hit, the late hit, but not the knee (for the same reason).

However, it seems like Fairley has gotten the benefit of the doubt all season with a lot of the "judgement call" penalties (unneccary roughness). I think that is why so many people are annoyed.

The facemask thing was pretty bad as well and appears to be forgotten by most.
