Do you want this so called "Super League" that we keep speculating about?

A lot of CFB fans believe that's where we are eventually heading.
I have a few questions:
1. How many teams will be in this league? 40-50(ish)?
2. What happens to everyone else? The Oregon States and Texas Techs of the world.
3. Will you still care if it reaches this point?

That’s only where we are heading because consultants and television broadcasters are retarded.
It’s an entertainment product. You want people to watch. In an ever changing world where entertainment options are near infinite and competition is greater than ever, getting rid of fan bases like Texas Tech because a retarded consultant looks at the numbers for tu or A&M and wants to maximize the number of games they play against “National” opponents for better ratings is so stupid and short sighted it’s almost hilarious there is absolutely no one in the room with common sense.
1.) They won’t completely cap the number. They’ll just give the B1G and the SEC 12 of the 16 spots in the playoff and it will be effectively the same. Conference expansion isn’t done. The SEC is at 16. The B1G is at 18. At some point UNC, Florida State, Virginia, and a half full of others will join those two.
2. They fight for an increasingly limited amount of spots. The Big 12 and ACC will get a single auto bid and the SEC/B1G will get 6. They’ll be forced in to that. The Texas Tech’s of the world, whose fan bases watch their regional rivals rooting for their failures, will watch less and less. The SEC and B1G teams will get a bigger slice of a shrinking pie.
3. I will always care, but it will be a shell of its former self. It will be sad to see.

Exactly. They’ll justify with dollars and cents. And people on here will agree because “mUh CaPiTaLiSm”. Fact is, it does make the product worse.
Why do we love March Madness so much? Why did we love the 2007 CFB season? America loves an underdog. They love the chaos the BCS brought. They love when Northern Illinois beating Notre Dame had meaning. The Michael Crabtree catch to beat Texas. Leach turning Washington State into an offensive machine. Oregon State romping Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. RG3 at Baylor.
I could go on, but those D1 teams that modern TV heads deem irrelevant matter to most fans. We want to watch a product where anything can happen on Saturday, and anybody has a shot at the Cinderella season despite the name on the jersey. Turning this into a Super League of 48 or so waters it down. And of those 48, only a handful will have a realistic playoff chance.

lol what a load of shite, 14 teams have won a title since the bcs started and none of them were first time winners. Uf 96 was the last time any newbie won a title. As far as “Cinderella” goes, that idea died with the playoffs. Niu over ND is one of the bigger upsets in college football since the bcs and it meant nothing. Maybe in the bcs days this would have been a big deal and cost nd a natty shot, not now. Also you say this isn’t what you want but most of you shite your pants with rage the second an undefeated Boise or conference champ asu/smu gets mentioned over a 3 loss sec/big team. You’re already in a 34 team super league, the other 70 D1 teams are just an illusion so you don’t feel about a 7 win season.

I wouldn't complain about separating away from the same division as Maine, Tulsa, Liberty, etc.
That hasn't made any sense ever.
But every other development in CFB since the introduction of the playoff has been a step backwards.

This is one of the larger problems. You have essentially 4 conferences involved in the playoffs. They need to be playing each other instead of sisters of the poor for non-conference to determine who the best conference is and use those records to determine spots.

I like the playoff format if the conferences were the same as in 2007 or so.
I liked the old Big East with Miami, PAC 10 or 12. Big 12 with Texas, Big 10 with 11 teams. It’s absurd with 18 team conferences. Make conferences regional again.

Zero interest, would probably stop watching or caring. I loved the old days of the SEC, even today the league is watered down with the trash that Shankey let in without consulting its members. Would like to see him fired and bring somebody in that puts SEC first.

I hate the whole idea of it. I was reluctant to see the SEC expand this last time but didn't mind it much this last time because Texas and Oklahoma add a lot of value and TVs to the league when it comes to TV deals.
Once you go over 16 teams you're essentially no longer a conference in the traditional sense. The last move was bad enough for the SEC from a competitive standpoint because SEC teams will now cannibalize each other each season while conferences with absolute dogs### conference schedules will skate thru cupcake league schedules (see the ACC this past year and next year) guaranteeing an ACC team will steal a bid from a deserving SEC or Big Ten team each season.

We need to go back to 5 conferences of 12 teams with a real 8 team playoff this time.
Send everyone back to where they came from.
At least the SEC retained a regional footprint. A super conference is so dumb.
