So its fair to say the rant thinks guys Malian is an excellent coach

No, but he averaged 8-9 wins a year in the toughest division in college football, never finished below .500 and finished ranked 5 of 8 seasons. He is a proven high-major college football coach who has held his own in the SEC West for 7 seasons. Doesn't make him excellent, but definitely makes him an attractive option to P5 schools looking for some stability or G5 programs looking to win big.

Josh Heupel has been a college coach for 3 seasons after taking over a program that went 13-0 and each season has gotten worse than the one before.

I know this is a troll thread, but if choosing between the two right now I will take JH every time.

What on earth would make you think this was a troll thread?

But nobody could argue Heupel > Gus, right?

Certainly not based on past results.

That being said, I think Heupel is a better offensive coach than Gus right now. Can Gus get UCF defense playing at a high level like he did during the 2nd half of his Auburn tenure?

Auburn fans have the only right to pick Josh because any fan base at this point would want something "new" even if it didn't look as great on paper.

Still a bad choice but it makes total sense.

I will add that he kept kids eligible, had a good graduation rate and ran a relatively clean program...on the surface at least.

Aside from his failures recruiting linemen and the dismal final class, he ran a good overall program.

I'd hate to be paying 21 million dollars to the better coach, so you may be biased.

Might as well hire Chizik back. Everything I've read and listened to about Huepel is that he is a disastrous hire and UCF is thrilled that he is gone

So how long will it take Gus to rehab himself there before someone at a P5 program gives him another chance?

UCF is a much better job than Tennessee as many VOLS fans said after the hire.

I believe I said it within a few posts in the Heupel hired thread.

Not surprising they would get the better coach.
