1) the level of athlete and what’s in the trenches is markedly different.
2) playing 4 top 10 teams is much different than playing 4 top 20 teams as far as wear and tear as well as possibility of losing. Going 2-2 against top 10 teams vs 3-1 vs top 20 all the committee will see is that extra Loss.
3) last year Indiana was healthy (a massive product of their SoS that was atrocious) and it showed. This is the secret to big success. Also they have nothing OOC a strategic decision that the committee doesn’t punish them for. That’s what disgusts me the most.

Did the B1G teams have problems in the trenches in the big games?

In such a small sample size of the playoffs is not the issue. The issue is the wear and tear of going through and entire season with a BIG schedule vs an SEC schedule that got more difficult by adding Texas and OU.
Look at the last decade of draftees in the trenches, I’ll give you a hint the vast majority isn’t from the BiG.
So when you are playing teams without depth and vastly inferior line play the sec has to play teams who may not have a great record but still best you up in the trenches.
Which is why SoS should be heavily weighted and it’s not, a gift to the BIG

Maybe, but all anyone is going to remember is that Indiana ended their season with a win. Ole Miss and Alabama may have played multiple NFL teams on their schedule, but they still ended their season with a loss, and that's all anyone will remember. Purdue, Maryland, Michigan State, Wisconsin, etc were all hot garbage, but who cares? The OOC was hot garbage too, but who cares? Indiana still played at Oregon and at Iowa, and played a decent Illinois team at home, then beat Ohio State in the B1G. So Indiana's schedule was only mostly garbage.

Not only is the schedule complete garbage but they only have 4 road games.
I've said before, I firmly believe that Indiana WAS the best team in the country last year.
That said, their OOC schedule was just a lesson that it doesn't matter who you play:
Old Dominion
Kennesaw State
Indiana State
(And no, I'm not leaving off a 4th non-conference opponent who was good... that's it)
If any SEC team had played that schedule they'd roast the team alive.

hey, beating Purdue Boilermakers at their crib is very difficult. ND used 5' nothin, 200 lb nothing Rudy as Purdue defenseman stand-in for the game week practice, that tells you how highly the Domers thought (still think) of Purdue.

that’s the whole point they don’t even have to play semi injured guys until the champ game of big ten lol… OU has to play Michigan scrub UGA scrub Texas … there is zero chance OU isn’t going to be banged up playing 3 physical teams that close together . It’s the entire totality of the schedule which makes it even worse . To top it off if we have one extra loss having the 1-5 hardest sos do

Just playing Devil's advocate... you don't like playing good competition?
I mean it makes winning a championship harder no doubt but I would much rather play a good conference opponent as opposed to UL-Monroe, Akron, etc

Can Sankey walk back the 9 game conference policy? LSU is about to cancel a series with Arizona State and Utah, two programs I’d much rather play than more Kentucky and Missouri matchups.
