This isn't a ranking of accomplishments it's a ranking of how would you rank the current SEC coaches.

And I simply responded to your list

A coach with an SEC title, 3 tourney appearances, and multiple tourney wins at LSU in 4 years seems low to me at 6

Wade's teams at lsu

3 tournament invites*(covid year)
1 sec title
3 ncaa tournament wins

So by your argument Frank Martin is better than Wade because he has a Final Four appearance. Also, Ben Howland has more Sweet 16 and Final Four appearances so we can rank him above Will Wade.

Well, it gets a little tricky with what happened to Wade that year in the tournament but Muss and Oats still have the ability to have a better finish than Wade in the tournament.

I'd put Cuonzo over Kermit

Howland also way too high in today's game with his dinosaur offense

And then has only made 1 tourney in 9 years

Hence why I pointed out wade is 3/4 at LSU, and also with an SEC title which shows more that just a hot tourney run. Thats unheard of for LSU

I think he underachieved this season and that he's a Mark Gottfried clone. As long as he signs great players he'll have a solid record and make the tournament, but his teams will be streaky and play dog shite defense that will bite them in the arse.

Tom Crean
- 3x Conference Champion
- 3x Conference COTY
- 9 NCAA tournament appearances
- 3 Sweet 16 appearances
- 1 Final Four

Seems to me Crean should be #2 on the list, amirite?

I think Oats and Muss are fantastic coaches, but Wade is more accomplished at LSU than the others are at their respective schools

But Oats and Musselman have simply done pretty much exactly what Wade did his second year (except Musselman didnt win an SEC title)

Wade has followed that up with sustained tournament appearances

Mike WHite has accomplished more at UF than Will Wade has at LSU.

What is your point?

If Oats and Muss win this weekend they've done more than Wade - and if they both/either get to the Final Four there is no debate.

We've been told for years the tournament is all that matters. The difference in the S16 and E8 is large and the difference in th S16 and F4 is the grand canyon.

His teams always make a big jump in year 3 so I expect him to go up once that hits.

Mark Gottfried in 11 seasons at Bama never won the SEC. Wade has won a title in only 4 years

Gottfried made the tourney in 45% of his seasons

Wade has made it in 75% of his. I dont think people have the ability to be objective about Wade

Oats won the SEC Regular season and Tournament title in his 2nd year, and hes already in the Sweet 16, and he'll get into the Elite 8 with 1 more win

Musselman will also get into the Elite 8 with 1 more win

Howland went to 3 straight Final Fours so I'd probably put him #2 but Crean would certainly be in the top 4-5

Yeah, I was actually just thinking if I would rather have an E8 or S16/SEC championship. It is close for me, I could understand someone making either argument. F4 vs S16/SEC championship isn't even close though.

Mark Gottfried made 5 straight NCAA Tournaments from 2002 to 2006.
