Pearl has done the impossible at Auburn. It is still hard to believe how far he has taken the absolute garbage program he inherited. Not sure if any other coach could pull it off. He’s a blown double dribble call away from probably winning a championship.

Crean and Stackhouse need to be about 20 spots below everyone.

Calipari really is a master recruiter because you can't argue that he's the most successful SEC basketball coach right now, but he'd probably be fairly far back in the pack for his in game coaching. I am not saying that to mock him or troll Kentucky... it is the one chink in his armor that prevents him from being among the all time greats.

6. Wade
If going by results at the SEC school, Wade is ahead of Oats and Muss and thats not really debatable

Wade's teams at lsu
3 tournament invites*(covid year)
1 sec title
3 ncaa tournament wins
I think Oats and Muss are fantastic coaches, but Wade is more accomplished at LSU than the others are at their respective schools
But Oats and Musselman have simply done pretty much exactly what Wade did his second year (except Musselman didnt win an SEC title)
Wade has followed that up with sustained tournament appearances

Coaches in the league have far more respect for Stackhouse than the fans do for sure

Barnes (Tennessee)
So Rick is clearly a very good coach based on his consistent success. No doubting that. But honestly, when you look back on the amount of great players that he's had and realize that he's had 1 Final Four in his career (TJ Ford's team in '03), its tough to call him a great coach.
He's probably deserving at 5-6 since you can't make an argument for many better than him.
But Rick Barnes is the LSU basketball of basketball coaches. You look at the historical players, then look at the historical success, and scratch your head a bit.

Wade had 3 1st team All-SEC players this year and couldn’t do better than 19-10 and a round of 32 exit.

I mean no one is really going to have a 100% results based list because it gets really hard to be consistent at some points. Although both those coaches have more games to play this year so TBD.
