calling a victory ho-hum when you win by 45 points and talking about how your coach controls egos way better after squeaking by with a 1 point win courtesy of a tackle on the 1 inch line seems a bit much

Gators gave Tigers plenty to lick their chops about after Florida's bittersweet win over FAU

quote:

Luckily, Florida looks like a team Auburn can exploit when the Gators arrive on the Plains with the head coach the Tigers missed out on during this past hiring cycle, Jon Sumrall.

A 3-0 Auburn football team is a very realistic possibility at the end of the night on September 19. The Gators' ho-hum debut of the Sumrall era in the "Swamp" against FAU last night lends credence to that idea.

Still, this was an FAU offense that replaced both starting guards and a starting right tackle.

This was supposed to be a display of a new, tough-nosed culture under Sumrall, against a program from a lower conference.

Sumrall isn't happy with the coaches or his players. While he didn't name names, Sumrall hinted that some players have excessive egos.

Luckily, Auburn hired a guy who has managed those successfully.

Philo's first big test at UF could expose his limitations in the SEC. Auburn's been beaten in recent years by mostly big-play quarterbacks. Philo is more of a Buster Faulkner system fit than a transformational talent. What happens if the system can't handle the opposing operating system?

Meanwhile, Sumrall's first SEC test could prove he's got a lot of work to do at a program that's had a lot of work to do for years.

Week 3 should have Tiger fans licking their chops after what went down in Week 1.

Game is for another 2 weeks, and Auburn's reporters already fired up about it

Their QB was getting the ball out in 3 seconds or less lol - you're not going to pressure a QB getting the ball out that fast against that air raid type of offense

eye test says we should feel good about that game

But Jordan Hare voodoo worries me

As good as Auburn's defense was yesterday... Baylor's WR group, which is absolutely nowhere near as good as ours, was getting wide tf open on every play.

I was really worried about Week 3 before yesterday, and I still am, as you point out, its in Jordan Hare, but there is no reason Florida should not win that.
I fully expect a better performance against Auburn.

Brown was absolutely awful vs Baylor

Offense looked solid

The defense did not

Some context... defense held FAU to 4.1 YPP in the 1st half despite FAU's QB having 36 attempts.

DL disappointed, but secondary looked better than I expected.

FAU also is the only team in FBS returning the entire offensive staff and offensive players - #1 team last year in passing offense, and #22 offense overall.
Rothrock melt down and Florida loses Game 3 in the first inning.

Another season ends with a bust for Tim Walton
Yeah wouldn’t be shocked if the Hogs roll them by 20+ tomorrow.
I feel bad for the region that is gonna get Florida as a #2 seed
Congrats Vandy and Waydown South! Yall deserve this
In every game Pat Adams has reffed this year, Florida has been down at halftime.
Bama fan right? You’re just as soft as your coach.
Vandy is shooting 55% from the field and 53% from 3. If you think every team is doing that, then yeah Florida is losing next week.
First bad game in two months and now Florida is doomed.

That was 1 night. We're 1-0 since. 12-5 in conference. 22-8 overall with a monster schedule. Good luck if we meet again.

Florida is 25-6, 20-2 since losing to UConn, also playing the #4 SOS in the country.
Missouri always seems to play UF earlier in the SEC season since Golden started coaching

Just advice… don’t elbow Condon in the ribs away from the ball.

He’s gonna remember that the next time Acuff drives
