Arkansas is just taking a flyer on a guy with upside but who comes with red flags.

If it doesn’t work who cares, it’s the portal era. He will produce or be back in the portal like half of college football is every year.

that's exactly right

it's something the Fantasy Football guys have been conditioned to never learn

this kid is a special teams player, and will produce or he will be leaving in December - he's going to run down and tackle people and he's going to run down and block people on punt return. If he does that, he'll get a shot at WR

All the Georgia fans keep saying he had terrible hands at UGA, but honestly, his hands may be fine. He just never actively tried to put his hands near the oncoming football.

Dude would let balls whiz right by his head without even trying to get his hands up at least 2-3 times a game.

It's Last Chance U for the kid. Hopefully it will all sink in, works hard and make some plays.

Then why was he still in on the next series?

We were not prepared for the 2019 season. As most Bama fans can attest in 2021, injuries to your best players (lawrence cager) make you rely on depth on your team (including freshmen).

UGA had 2 freshmen (george pickens and dominic blaylock) go with a bunch of no names who were incapable of taking over a game (tyler simmons, matt landers, trey blount). The rest were freshmen who were battling injuries or not ready for prime time (kearis jackson, jaylen johnson, tommy bush).

Both Tyler simmons and matt landers kept getting sent out on the field because there literally was no better option (the only thing worse than bad hands is a freshman not reading the route correctly).

I don't really keep up with Georgia players, but I can clearly remember how little all the Georgia fans liked this guy.

One problem was... it wasnt just Matt Landers. Tyler Simmons was in the same boat and couldnt elevate his game under the lights either.

Some of the frustration at Landers is compounded by the same frustrations with Simmons in the same games.

The hope is that these guys improve year over year and can develop to be reliable. Landers and simmons were examples when that year over year improvement never met expectations.

James Coley (wr coach) gets some of the blame. Cortez Hankton (replacement wide receiver coach) gets the rest. Ironically, hankton gets credit for pickens and blaylock's freshmen accolades (same for burton in 2020). But he couldnt elevate players to that next step.

WR was one area where I'm not terribly concerned. Although we lost Burks, the WR room is still pretty deep. If he can help, great!

Brini is a must to start. Anything Landers can do is gravy.

I don't remember Simmons, I just remember how Georgia fans even hated to see Landers get in the game.

You picked two catches from the Red & Black game?

I hope he does well and blossoms for Arkansas, but they are right. He dropped a lot of passes.

I didn't mind Simmons. He just wasn't consistent enough. You're right, though....we hated it when Landers was in the game. He just seemed like a practice warrior, and just couldn't put it together in a game.

Brini was a great get. I hated to see him go. He'll do very well for you guys.

Landers was an 'effort' guy. As on 'lack of effort.' If he wasn't the first option on any given play he seemed to take the play off, which is frustrating when you have a QB that can actually go through progressions to find the open man.

Hope he does well for Arkansas and he certainly has the measurables to be a good SEC receiver.

Now Brini? Loved Brini. I miss that guy already.

He probably won't play very much anyway. I'm more concerned about trying to replace John Ridgeway.

While at UGA, R-Kansas would have agreed and probably made fun of him.

Today, not so much

Sam was at Georgia when Landers was there so he is probably familiar with him. Sam has said he was looking for another receiver and this kid was the best available to him I guess.

I’m sure this kid has learned a lot since he was a freshman and will give us a big target to get first downs in what may be a ball control offense to run clock. Hopefully he’ll work out for us.

He did average 26 yards per catch at Toledo and had some 80+ yard touchdown grabs. It’s an intriguing pickup since he’s a 6’5 deep threat but I don’t expect him to do much other than run go routes off of play action.

MY EYES!!! MY EYES!!!! I was hoping to never have to recall that moment or the sorry effort on that play. Landers should be banned from any competitive event ...ever, for the rest of his life.
