Well, our program has consistently been the same, with the same coach and same records since that point.
Oregon of the late 2000s/early 2010s is pretty clearly not a thing anymore. The coach(es) are gone, the records are gone, the system is gone. Using our last 10 years to show what you will probably get the next 3 makes some sense. Using Oregon's from 2010 doesn't really. JMHO.
Like I said though, Auburn scheduled the game thinking they were getting Oregon 2010-2014, not Oregon 2016. That isn't their fault.

I'd rather play this than a P5 school. The overall record seems to matter more to the playoff committee. I'd actually prefer a 9-game conference schedule.

When has Alabama played Jacksonville State since Saban has been there? I’ll wait.

Everyone does but it’s still not happening for some reason.

I'm honestly about to give up my tickets and just buy the 2/3 games a year I want to go to off the street.
i did this with lsu around 2014 and i am glad i did. having tickets i went to every game. tailgating all day from 7am and staying till after the games (yes i stay no matter what), and getting home at 2am around 6-7 times a year started catching up to me in my 40's. plus, the home slate was horrible at times.
i figured i'd go to the 2-3 games i really wanted to see and be happier. i was right.

So ten years for Bama is okay, but ten years for Oregon is reaching "WAY" back...
Come on now, I get what you are saying but let's not act like stats from the last ten years are reaching way back. And if anything cherry picking one or three years is reaching.

We know that, but crisp seems to think it's hilarious we haven't scheduled them in the two years since we played them last. Too much lil bro in him I guess...

I didn't say any of that, my point was there hasn't been any sort of demarcation line from 2008-2018 for Alabama. Same program, same general results, same coach, etc.
Oregon is clearly a totally different program in 2018 than they were in 2011. Different coach, different scheme, very different results the last 3 years. It would be like comparing 2017 Texas and 2009 Texas. The only thing that is the same is the burnt orange.
That's all. But like I said, it doesn't really matter in the context of this conversation. Auburn scheduled Chip Kelly/early Helfrich Oregon. They get credit for that IMHO, regardless of what 2019 Oregon looks like.

A single coach during that time and performance has been largely consistent.
That is not the case with Oregon, who hired a Chizik after Kelly left, and suffered the same fate - an early run to a championship game, and then an immediate descent into the abyss when he ran out of players left over from the former coach.
Look, I get that Auburn was trying to schedule up. Oregon was coming off a 9 win season when AU made this agreement and only a year removed from being a playoff team. The reality is, though, that they are bad now.

It's pathetic. If it's that hard to find solid opponents to play us in neutral site games then stop fvckin playing them.
Bet theres a few big name teams who would play home & home with bama
prolly more than a few ... can't stand neutral site games ...

Maybe but it seems like its getting harder to find a team who wants to square up with Bama to start the season off. Saban is undefeated in those games and its pretty much an auto loss for the team and then you are behind the 8-ball in terms of your playoff chances.
Louisville would have been a much more interesting match-up had Jackson stuck around and still interested to see Saban go up against Petrino again. We were able to get Miami on the schedule so credit to Richt for not being a pussy. We are committed to AT&T in 2020 but don't know who that will be.
I will say that since Saban arrived Bama has scheduled better P5 OOC games than anyone else basically in the SEC.....but this Duke game sucks and the home schedule is giving the ticket holders and students the shaft. I assume we will keep playing neutral sites because of the money and recruiting

We had several good posts of fans of all schools, Bama fans included, making good points about the pathetic Bama OOC schedule for 2019. (Watch Duke be the team that pulls the upset now. )
Until Auburn trolls and a Bama troll turned it into a typical thread.
What I found interesting: Bill Battle agreed to a future neutral site game if Bama is guaranteed 1 million more than the other team? Is that the same thinking that got us Duke next year.
But if that is Bama's stance for future neutral site games then what can we expect. Is Ohio State, Oklahoma etc. going to line up for that deal for their school? I doubt it.
Would Auburn, Georgia, LSU or any top name SEC school agree to go play Ohio State if the other school was guaranteed and extra million?
And again, most Bama fans think the schedule is very bad and not defending it.

I don't think bama has much control over the neutral site game.
And before you say take it away, a lot of fans love the neutral site games, me especially. They are by far easier to attend for many people not living in Alabama.

Alabama plays NO instate school other that Auburn, but we do play some pretty good non P-5 schools instead.

Alabama agreed to play the game. Period. End of discussion. There is absolutely no one to blame but Bill Battle. Battle knew what ticket prices would be. Battle knew that Duke would be a pathetic home opener.
