Clark is in her fourth year. Maravich compiled his total in three. So Clark has had an extra year.
Furthermore, Clarks' points scored in her freshman year count toward her total.
The 715 points Maravich scored in his freshman year DO NOT. He'd have over 4,300 otherwise.
Not to mention Clark has had the benefit of the three-point line, Maravich did not.
Also, Maravich averaged 44% from the field, Clark 46%, with over half being 3-pointers! Not sure where the 'Clark is a lot better shooter than Pete was' drivel started.

Good stats, but I'll show you another one that stands out my guy...

Pistol took 3166 shots in his 3 years.

Caitlin has taken 2567 shots in 4 years.

Caitlin's taken 599 fewer shots.

She's a 55.55% career shooter from 2 and a 38.05% career shooter from 3.

Overall, she's made 1197 shots. 694 from the 2 pt range for 57.9% and 503 from the 3 pt range for 42.02%.

Using those percentages against the 599 fewer shots taken than Pistol, all things equal for shots, she would be standing at approximately 347 x 2 = 694 + 252 x 3 = 756 pts, or a total of 4753 points.

That's a fricking lot.

Caitlin Clark has another career record pending on her astounding resume: the most points by any college basketball player to ever take the court.

WRONG
John Pierce (NAIA) of Lipscomb College scored 4,230 points in FOUR YEARS, for the Men's NAIA College Record.

Pete Maravich of Louisiana State scored 3,667 points in THREEEEEEEEEEE YEARS between 1968-70 for the Men's NCAA College Record, averaging FORTY-FOUR POINT TWO points per game, more than ANY player, ANYWHERE, EVERRRRRRR.

Pearl Moore of Francis Marion College in South Carolina scored 4,061 points in FOUR YEARS between 1975 and 1979 for the Women's small school record.

Grace Beyer of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis scored 3,874 points in FOUR YEARS for the Women's NAIA record.

Cool.

If a college softball player hits 763 home runs in her career is she better than Bonds?

Because that's basically what we're talking about here.

She is better, by any metric than Maravich. This isn't even debatable.

Hell, the only way Maravich could have made it to a postseason tournament is if he bought a ticket and drove.

Are we ready for women to take over mens sports records. Its not a equal playing field and does not deserve mention. Let the women have their records but it does not equate to mens sports at all. Everybody is following the media frenzy on this sports topic and i can not believe broadcasters and sports writers are buying into this.

You are an embarrassment to the University of Alabama, a major city boys high school basketball team could beat a college women's team

Respectfully, Clark has earned her place atop the annals of history, replacing Maravich in the top spot.

Congrats, Caitlin!

Turn all of her 3's into 2's and then lets see where she stands.

She has way more points than Bird did in college.

Bird led Indiana st to the national championship game game, went to the Celtics and took them from the gutter to championships.

His peers from that era considered him the best and that’s saying a hell of alot. YouTube has videos of what those guys thought of Bird.

To mention a girl in the same sentence as him is ridiculous no matter how many 3 point shots she makes.

Bird is if not the greatest basketball player that only played 13 years in the NBA which is a short tenure compared to a lot of the legends.

Greatest trash talker.

One of the most fierce and skilled basketball players in NBA history.

Injuries kept him from breaking a lot of records.

Bird would tell the defender what he was going to do and how he was going to do it and then he’d do just what he said and they couldn’t stop him.

He thought it was disrespectful if a white dude was guarding him.

Clark is at this point the best female basketball player to ever compete in college. That said, there is absolutely no correlation between her and Maravich. Men's basketball is a different sport than women's basketball and Maravich had no 3 point shot opportunities. Can we give this idiotic identity politic bullshite a rest. FFS

Well you would have to find a baby sitter for the kids. So that is super expensive or do you have family members that help out?

It’s a shame that Saban retired well outside the top 10 in NCAA coaching championships. With 7 he’s still well behind better coaches like Dan Gable (Iowa, wrestling, 15), Dave Williams (Houston, golf, 16), John McDonnell (Arkansas, track, 40) and plenty others.

28.3 points per game with 3 point shot

vs

44.2 points per game without one

Not even close.
