When the player was down at the 1yd line after the first play of OT?

I just watched the OT on the SECN for the first time and they should have had to go to the 1yd line after the 15 yd penalty right? What am I missing?

And how was the last play of the game not PI?

Because it wasnt.

Both guys were hand fighting with each other, and the safety came over and made a great play on the ball.

They didnt call it when the LSU DB grabbed White's hand, adn they didn't call it when the LSU WR and Alabama DB were hand fighting with each other.

There is a little known 59-0 rule we invoked. It's in the bylaws.

It was 1st and 10 from the 16 yardline after the 15 yard personal foul penalty.

We were at the 16. Henry ran for 6-7 then we had a penalty on Brown then the White TD pass.

15yard penalty at the 1yard line.

Bama then had first and 10 from the 15.

Was weird but apparently a new rule change. When LSU did our after play penalty it was second and 16. Guess it's all because Bama got a first down. Still, seems like it would be first and 15.

You are missing the rule book.....
The applicable rule is 5-7-something (can't remember the subset) under "foul between series". The dead ball foul is enforced from the end of the run; 1st and 10 at the succeeding spot.

Because it was solid defense. You are use to soft big 12 officiating.

No after the penalty it was 1st and ten from the 15. Henry ran for 8. then ran for one. Fowler got the 1st. Henry then ran to the one. Then the penalty then the pass for the TD

First play of Bamam's OT possession: live play results in a gain to the lip of the cup and a first down. Post play PF on Bama results in 15 yard mark off from there, and only THEN are the chains reset. Up until about 10 years ago, this sequence would have resulted in Bama having first and goal from the 15/16 rather than first and 10, but they took a little sting out of dead ball infractions by changing the rules to resetting the chains after the markoff when the play in question resulted in a first down.

The unsportsmanlike penalty was after the play was dead. Because the new down and distance was not established yet the penalty is marked off and it is first and 10 from that spot.
