Can Someone Explain This ...

I know there are a ridiculous amount of threads on this LSU issue ... and I actually read through a couple and didn't see answers to these questions.
1. Can we all agree it clearly isn't a money issue? Whether it's NIL $$$ or NFL roster $$$, cash is cash.
2. It's not an age thing. Trinidad is on I think his 6th year. Saints QB Tyler Shough played for about 7 college seasons. And Max Johnson who played QB for LSU several decades ago is like Blue from Old School.
3. It's not a Pandora's Box thing. This isn't going to open the floodgates for people like Peyton Manning to come back for a 5th year. This is confined to a single set of players - those who graduated high school in 2022.
4. The only thing left is that these guys participated in NFL OTA's, a training camp (for which they didn't impress much because they got cut) and a couple of preseason games. Is it that they were exposed to some super secret sauce that somehow gives them a competitive advantage over other college football players?
Other than that,

If you haven't noticed, everyone is sick of college football's bullshite. NFL players coming back to play in college seems to be a reasonable line in the sand to most fans.

This keeps being said but there's absolutely no way anybody knows what is coming next. Just let them sign some jerseys.

It’s not a big deal. Being a member of the SEC isn’t a big deal.

Well most of the LSU fans on this board are far too low IQ to have a real conversation but sure...
1) Its not fair in the slightest. If every school had known from the beginning that this was a possibility, they would have recruited these players. Everyone but LSU has been operating under the assumption that they were not going to do this and now with rosters due, its too late for anyone else.
2) It sets a bad precedent that any team can seek out some local judge to get a TRO to get an exception to any rule in order to give them a competitive advantage over the other teams in the league.
3) Former NFL players have no business playing CFB. Again it sets a bad precedent. "Its only this year" ...until another judge decides to use the league allowing it this year to justify some ruling next year that allows NFL players to play
It was dumb when Bama played Bediako and many Bama fans(including myself) hated it...even though its a much different situation with former pro players playing all over CBB.

And I am sure that your school NEVER wining a NATTY in football is also not a big deal. In the meantime, go sit in the corner until you get the right to speak.

It's a simple fix. Once a player decides to go to the NFL camp he loses his college eligibility.

That’s not an LSU problem - sure seems the blame is misdirected

No. Regardless of how much people have bastardized it, pay for play is still illegal in college sports. Paying a player to play has penalties, including the player becoming ineligible to play. Remember, NIL is all about name/image/likeness. If college players were paid to play, that would make them employees.
The NFL on the other hand pays players directly to play football. Sure many have outside deals and endorsements, but their teams pay them to play.
This whole thing is about money. These guys who are trying to return are doing it for money. They got cut from a NFL roster and this is their plan B.
If it was all about just wanting to play college football, then why did LSU and Jack Pyborg announce he was coming to LSU. Then another NFL team picked him up off of waivers and he changed his mind.
If it was all about wanting to play college football why did they not start this process in June? Instead they signed with NFL teams and went through summer camp and the NFL preseason before having a sudden change of heart.

Hmmm… why is Ole Miss given a pass for the same thing?

The kid from Texas did it. No one seems to care.

Nobody likes Kiffin because he's a POS, and now you are joined at the hip with him.
Hope this helps.

In what world was Ole Miss given a pass? You people have short term memory loss.
But Chambliss

You can’t reason with Butthurt!

I thought the reason these players went to the draft was because they would not have been granted a fifth year so they had to leave. By the looks of it, these players only chance to play is in college because they are not good enough for the NFL.
So, once the decision was made for 5-5 then all schools could have done this.

If a player has done any of these:
Signed a contract with a NFL team.
Appeared on a NFL roster. Preseason or otherwise, it is still an NFL roster.
Played in a NFL game, preseason or regular season, it is still an NFL game.

Next LSU will try to bring back Will Campbell. He didn’t get his 5th year of eligibility. And did you see how he played in Super Bowl LX? He clearly is not good enough for the NFL.

Because the "medical exemption" is something that had happened in the past. I think it was a mistake for SEC to allow this...but its not comparable to a former NFL player coming back to play CFB

Just like it was reasonable for college football fans to not want Sorsby to be eligible
