Probably neither. But LSU will not be happy. Kelly has been a strictly mediocre coach, with a weak arse record against mediocre competition. Against top level teams his record is horrible.

Good question. The last 3 LSU coaches won one in 4 years, and If Matt Mauck didn't get hurt late in a blowout win over Florida, I might be saying 3 years instead of 4.

3 years seems a little soon considering all the roster turnover. With the portal.... maybe...... but doubtful.

Yeah, it would be. Only half this class was freshman. But, if the NCAA does allow 32 total signers next year like they did this year, I think a west title at least in 2024 is a reasonable expectation.

I would set the over/under at 5 years. He is a proven winner, a CEO-type, has been near-perfect with players and fans since arriving, and he has far more resources here. I feel the trash from the last regime has been flushed. The coaching staff is impressive. He hit the portal well and filled the gaps. LSU seems to find the genie in a bottle every 4/5 years. I do believe he wins a championship by year 5 and has LSU at a very high level starting in September 2022. The kids (minus one high profile player who will not be named) have bought in and there is elite talent across the roster. It's the first time imho that a true professional has been in charge since 2004.

I think it's more likely he wins a natty than shits the bed within 3 years. The most likely scenario though is probably he keeps LSU consistently good with 9 to 10 win seasons with a Natty between year 5 to 10.

Well Miles and Orgeron won it in their thirds years and took Saban 4 years. Coach Miles and Coach O > Coach Saban:-)

No reason Coach Kelly can't achieve this but ridiculous to expect it so soon with so many variables.

Saban took over a MICHIGAN STATE program under NCAA investigation and who forfeited all of their games in the year before he showed up. You are comparing a MSU program staring down the barrel of a gun to Notre Dame??? Even with that, Saban had more top 5 wins while at MSU than Brian Kelly has in his entire career. And if we want to play the covid asterisk game that LSU fans love to play, Brian Kelly has no top 5 wins in his career. Their win vs Clemson doesn't count, right?

Brian Kelly wins as a HC 1991-2021 263
UK wins 1881-2021 638

BK 31 seasons 8.5 wins a year
UK football 140 seasons 4.5 wins a year

Geaux lay down & watch basketball clips clown, football isn't a conversation UK fans should partake in

Mostly agree. Definitely agree with the "probably neither" and that "LSU will not be happy".

Though I think Kelly is an above-average coach. Not elite, but better than mediocre.

He won a lot more games than our previous national title winning coach did prior to coaching LSU

If he has LSU back in the top ten in the next 3 years I’ll consider the hire a success.
