Brandon Miller has rights. Bama does not have a duty to protect his rights, only to not violate them. Playing basketball or attending the University are not rights. If those are the implications from Bilas, then he is wrong.

Exactly. That Bilas quote reads like he is saying that the University has an obligation to advocate for Miller’s legal rights, which is a wild claim to make. Of course, it’s also wild to claim that US citizens have a right to play collegiate basketball, so I’m not really sure where he’s going with this.

Did I miss when Miller was tried and convicted of something or even charged with anything so much as a traffic violation?

Bilas is trying to frame it as Miller’s rights but what he really means is the institution has no obligation to satisfy an outrage mob. He’s trying weasel around by couching it in the rights of the little guy instead of saying what he means plainly.

I agree with the logic I believe he really means. The institution doesn’t have to make y’all happy. You don’t matter. You are nonentities to the institution. They do have an obligation to their politicians and other supporters. The facts are not strong enough to turn that class, so here we are.

Considering the Tuscaloosa PD says he’s a cooperating witness… that’s all the proof I need.

Are you trying to say they didn’t question him? Once again… are you retarded too?

This would be a crime for which a person would be arrested, charged, and tried. Brandon has not been charged with anything but that is apparently just not important to idiots here who want him lynched. Bilas, an attorney, is exactly right.

Are you so fricking stupid that you had to get other people to do your homework for you in school?

"Investigators said Miller fully cooperated with police when questioned and have also iterated he hasn't been charged in connection with the murder."

Snitches have rights too and Miller clearly ratted out his friends to save his skinny little arse. So he is a snitch. So the Gumps are celebrating snitches now? I don’t think the REC wants to go that way.

That was his only move.

Our entire criminal justice system depends on snitches. If someone burglarizes your home and steals your shite, you wouldn't want an acquaintance of theirs to turn them in? Are you fricking retarded?

You call yourself an attorney yet you engage in this kind of supposition? GTFOH.

Why do we still not know whether he read the text before delivering the gun?

Why does the answer to that question have to be concealed?

Jay Bilas is an actual lawyer.

Jay Bilas hasn't stepped in a court room in 20 years and hasn't ever done anything but civil litigation. There are plenty of actual lawyers on this board who have commented on this very situation, too. You wanna agree with what they've opined or no?

Look, it wasn't a pretty white girl or a white on black crime so the media doesn't give a frick about it. Bama isn't going to chop their own dick off and black on black crime facilitated by a future NBA star isn't a story the media wants to sell.

It's ugly but that's the truth.

I don't think anyone has disagreed with this. And IMO, this is why he hasn't been charged with anything
