Look at how many Head Coaches have been fired already this season. And maybe a couple more will be before the end of the season. I have read on Penn State boards that Lane Kiffin is a name that fans want them to get.

You can't start the season 3-3 and be eliminated from the playoff conversation before November after returning almost all your talent from a final 4 team. This was a massive coaching failure in front of a fanbase that was expecting a run at a national championship. There's no way he could've ever won the fans back after this one.

No it's not. Penn St. has a huge NIL budget.

They could do better by hiring a number of head coaches. Hell they could hire Vanderbilt's HC again and be better off.

Drinkwitz would be a good hire, Cignetti would be a good hire, Lane Kiffin would be a good hire.

Money is not a problem for them.

I'd be surprised if they aren't the leaders. This also seems pretty surprising, almost like they already know who they're going to get.

Or they knew who they didn’t want next year as their season is over and a lot of high profile jobs might open this year.. this gives them a head start for a coach, recruiting and the portal

This is the future.

I can't see Lane in Pennsylvania. Just seems odd.

I completely forgot about that. You are correct. Don’t want someone like that leading a group of young men.

Lane would die in the Big10 (or anywhere outside the SEC). No chance he trades night games in Athens for noon kickoffs in West Lafayette.

Penn State is a money school with a big alumni network alongside NIL collective. They can afford not to settle for anything less.

Nah, he got them to the playoffs, this move is more likely to make them Nebraska....

There isn't a well of people who are better. Just a handful that already have good jobs.

So? Why do people think it’s easy to hire new coaches? There’s far more Mike Norvells and Billy Napiers and Justin Fuentes and Jimbo Fishers than there are Sabans or Urban Meyers.

Hell OSU’s fan base was ready to fire their coach the season he won the national championship.

When schools stop firing coaches for three losses. The difference between winning and losing is razor thin now and a bad stretch after making the final four last year gets you fired. No coach will accept that job without guarantees.
