ACC is doing it right and the other Power 4 conferences need to adapt this next year!

Ohio State is the top then Indiana and Oregon and everyone else. I do think the SEC has better middle teams than BIG. Wisconsin is down because Fickell went away from the running game and tried to make the team a passing attack team. If he would have stuck to what was working before he became Head Coach they probably are a better team . Michigan is up there and Penn State but this year not so much. Washington is doing well and USC could be better if they get their defense better. Iowa has always had a great defense but until this year their offense didn't have a pulse. The past few years in Bowl games Big teams have beaten SEC teams. And the excuse is the bowl game doesn't matter that much. But when you play against each other bowl game or not. It should matter. SEC does have better talent because most of the elite talent comes from the South. I think the transfer portal and NIL has helped the SEC more then the BIG. Because of location and weather. An great player is going to want to Vanderbilt, South Carolina or other lower SEC schools more than Wisconsin, Maryland or Purdue. You're not playing in the cold and possible snow. But as a BIG poster, I love to watch snow games, some of the best games are in the snow and weather. Other then TCUN, as a Buckeye fan. I cheer for BIG teams in Bowl games. But as a college football fan. I have watched SEC and cheered for different teams. And hope to attend a few SEC games in the future and cheer for the home team. I don't hate any SEC teams or any teams in general other then our rival. I can easily watch a great game with the ACC, Big 12, or Group 5 team. One of my favorite teams is North Dakota State in FCS. I enjoy reading and sometimes posting on here after games because I realize no matter where you live or who you cheer for. There is plenty of fans as passionate for their team as I am for the Buckeyes! And that is what makes college football great! I am interested in how the Head Coaches hires will go in the SEC since there is a few. It be interesting how many get great hires. I do think Ohio State has the talent to go back to back Natties. They also have the coaching expierence in Day to know that with the playoffs it is like a NFL season and you need to keep your starters fresh for the end of the year. At the end of the day, I'm just a college football fan that loves college football!

Louisiana Governor

On the Triple Option Show today, Urban Meyer says that he heard that Louisiana Governor helped get Kelly Fired. He states that he doesn't know if it's true or not. But doesn't think Governors should be deciding if College Head Coaches get fired. Thoughts? Anyone in Louisiana hear this?

It wouldn't surprise me if the NFL has a gambling like the NBA has been busted for. If the Refs aren't gambling then maybe a friend and/or family member is . Just look at the bad calls and No calls in today's games. Until there is real accountability for the Refs it be the same ole same ole!

I think the transfer portal has more than NIL. One transfer and then after that you sit out a year. NIL will keep getting bigger with more Billionaires getting involved. It won't be like the old days. But in a way NIL and transfer portal has helped teams . Who would have thought before the transfer portal and NIL that teams like Indiana, Vanderbilt would be in the Top 25 let alone the Top 10 of College Football. Sure there will still be the blue bloods of the sport but it has allowed other schools get a chance at a Championship with the 12 team playoff system. College Football is still fun to watch and there is still upsets. I still think it's better than the NFL !

re: Who is here for it all???

I knew once the Kelly fire talk was going around the internet that Rant would be on fire tonight!
Jon Gruden has said that he would love to coach in the SEC. I could see LSU or Florida going after someone like him. He won a super bowl in the NFL and I think he could connect with young men.
With all these coaches openings , how many good coaches are out there to get?
With the 12 team playoffs and the future playoffs maybe having more teams like 16-24 playoff. Why have Conference Championships anymore? It now hurts the 2 teams playing in it with possible injuries and playing an extra game while a team like Notre Dame will never have to worry about a Conference Championship. Their team sits and is rested while others teams have to play. With teams possibly playing up to 17 games including the National Championship that is a NFL schedule for college players. It time has passed .

Look at how many Head Coaches have been fired already this season. And maybe a couple more will be before the end of the season. I have read on Penn State boards that Lane Kiffin is a name that fans want them to get.

re: Urban Meyer > Nick Saban

I like Urban as a Coach he was great, but Saban is The Goat! He won a Natty at LSU and most likely would have won more if he stayed at LSU. At Bama he is in the same conversion and even better than the Bear! By winning several Natties at Bama. Plus he took a bad Michigan State team and beat my Buckeyes in 1998 that cost them from winning a Natty that year.
Both coached in the MAC, Big Ten and SEC and both were great coaches. But Saban has a better coaching tree and rather you like Saban or not. He is just The Goat ! You can't say that about Urban!
Sorry to hear this. Prayers to the Smart family!

The playoffs are looking like a NFL season. Which is a long season for college players. Coaches will have to take on NFL tendencies like rotating players often and keeping them fresh and healthy for a long season. FBS will not copy FCS playoff schedule which is a 24 team playoff but their championship game is Jan. 6th! Best thing would be get rid of conference championships and start the playoff the first or second Saturday of December. Or what would equal at least a week off for teams.
Also, needs to be some what of a same number of games played in all conferences. If SEC doesn't want to go to 9 games then just have everyone play 8 games. In the end, college football is becoming more and more like a mini NFL rather we like it or not.

NIL and Transfer Portal has hurt teams. Players don't stay, so teams have depth issues and now you have billionaires paying millions to high school recruits to go to their favorite school to play. It doesn't mean the recruit will work out or stay and they could get hurt.

I heard someone suggest Army Navy game move to Week O. Which I think would be good. All the teams that had a bye lost. So a bye didn't help them this year. It be interesting to see if the committee changes anything.

CFP Changes

Posted by Reeves40 on 1/2/25 at 6:57 pm
What would you change about the CFP to make it better for next year?
It will still be 12 team playoff.
Oregon and Georgia being #1 & 2 got the worst path to the semi finals where Texas and Penn St. the teams they beat got the easiest path to the semi finals. I'm surprised Penn St. game isn't at night and a white out. Can't believe the playoffs are already here. This year of college football went by too fast. If someone would had told me that Indiana and Arizona St. would be in the playoffs and one of them a Conference Champion , I would have thought they were crazy! Hopefully, the committee changes the playoff seeding for the better next year.
The way it is seeded now. Oregon and Georgia are getting penalized for winning their conference championship games. Where the losers Texas and Penn St. have the easiest path to the semifinals! How fair is that? It be interesting if the committee changes things next year.
I can see Kiffin. Who ever takes over is going to have a lot pressure to win and the legacy of Nick Saban to live up to. Also, if a head coach from a Power 5 becomes Bama head coach then not only do you have Bama players in the transfer portal but that other Power 5 school players in the portal too. I think if Florida State coach became Bama's coach then I see Deion Sanders becoming Florida State head coach. It definitely going to be an interesting off season.
I never would have dreamed that Saban's last loss would be against the Cheaters and Harbaugh!
1998 when he was at Michigan State and beat undefeated Ohio State. That loss cost the Buckeyes the National Championship vs Tennessee. Not a loss but a fun fact. In 1980, Pete Carroll the secondary coach at Ohio state left and was replaced by Nick Saban. Rather you like Nick or not, he was one of the greatest coaches in college football!
I think this was the committee way of sending a message to The Cheaters(Michigan)! Best of luck trying to beat Saban and Bama! It's too bad for Florida State but I am loving this! The Cheaters ain't getting to the Natty this year!!! :nana:
