7. South Carolina: Kevin Garnett or Joe Frazier

Shoeless Joe Jackson.

quote:

Jackson still holds the now Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox franchise records for triples in a season and career batting average. In 1999, he ranked number 35 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players and was a finalist for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team. The fans voted him as the 12th-best outfielder of all time. He also ranks 33rd on the all-time list for non-pitchers according to the win shares formula developed by sabermetrician Bill James. Baseball legend Babe Ruth said that he modeled his hitting method after Jackson's.

6. Tennessee: Reggie White or Ric Flair

Ric Flair is an actor. An entertainment. 'Rasslin' is not a sport. It is a show.

Reggie White
Wilma Rudolph
'Big Doug' Atkins
Tommy 'Hitman' Hearns

Texas: Robert R. Neyland

Was considered by many to be the second greatest athlete of the first half of the 20th Century. Following only the great Jim Thorpe.

Captain of the football team.
20 game winner on the baseball team
Three time West Point heavyweight boxing champion.
Legendary coach with one of the largest stadiuns in the nation bearing his name.

What a helluva man.

Y'all are in here arguing about whether or not Ric Flair's an athlete and it took 8 pages before anyone mentioned Pat.

Um..yes...it is called Sports Entertainment. Like pretty much every show and Movie, the result is preplanned.

Also being a rodeo clown is not being an athlete at all..tough, yes. But if you are seriously fricking trying
to say these are not athletes? (John Cena, Roman Reigns, Dave Batista)

I mean, you have to be very insane to think people like Dwayne Johnson, Mark Henry(literally won World's strongest man), Brock Lesner(who also won a heavy title in the UFC), HHH, etc are not athletic.

The Entertainment is preplanned, but that does not mean the participants are not athletic...at all.

Best Sports Figure Born

Rasslin is entertainment. It is NOT a sport.

Sure, there athletes in the show. Keyword: SHOW

Rodeo clown is a very tough, athletic job. Try it sometime.

I hate to be the one to burst your bubble, but Rasslin' ain't real.

Those are some great picks y’all. As far as pure athletic ability, one would have to consider Matt Jones and Darren McFadden. Sports Figure would be Bear Bryant, no question.
