Unreal the sports figures you could pick (that were top tier in their sports) from Alabama.

The Mobile walk of fame downtown alone would be sufficient enough and then add the entire state. Crazy.

The crazy one is baseball. Alabama isn’t thought of as a baseball state. But Alabama produced Willie Mays, Satchel Paige, Hank Aaron, Will McCovey, Don Sutton, Ozzie Smith, Joe Sewell and Billy Williams.

Give me Hank Aaron over Willie. The true homerun king and the greatest hitter ever

I get what you’re saying. And there is something to be said about a player like Hank, who literally played into his 40s and was still putting up the same consistent amazing numbers against his best peers. However, Willie Mays was completely unmatchable in all phases. Two words “the catch”. Also, you need to Edit and ad a lot of people to Alabama and at least Dizzy Dean for Arkansas.

No doubt willie was insane but im bias to a braves player. Also Hank was supposedly a super nice guy while I was always told Willie could be a prick. You are right theres a lot of edits that need to be made but it being wrong gets people to respond and I like reading the new responses. Helps me learn stuff I hadnt thought of

The man that put Arkansas on the map in college football. And a silver medal in the Olympics 110yard hurdle after not running hurdles since high school.

Yeah, it does get to splitting hairs sometimes re: Mayes vs. Aaron or even add in Mantle, or for that matter - the Great Bambino. Yes, the overall game was slower and The Babe was just that much better than everyone else, but the balls were clunkier and weighed more(TWSS) and he dominated with on the back of training in Hot Springs, Arkansas by hiking with a cigar and a belly full of bourbon.

Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds, Willie Mays and Ty Cobb all have a higher WAR than Aaron. Hank Aaron was a great hitter. Calling him the greatest ever is a stretch.

Ray Guy for Mississippi?

Ray Guy was born in Georgia and yes he could qualify. He was a freak of an athlete in multiple sports.

Clyde Scott is the best athlete to come from Arkansas, and I’m not sure it’s close
