I don't know how many of you vacation in the Williamsburg, VA area, but The Jefferson is absolutely awesome!

my beagle pup choked down a mouthful of Destin white sand years ago and I'll never know how close to death he was for it - but he didn't give a shite, he was still having a great time after coughing up a couple of lungs

Used to vacation at Grayton Beach when I was a wee tot and the Red Bar was a General Store. Fun times!!
Had to use the payphone at that store during a Spring Break in the early 80s while trying to find some friends. Had to use the operator since some of numbers didn't work on the phone. Never found my friends but ran into plenty others that night from Ft. Walton to PCB.

Not 30A, but Cosmo's and Fishers in Orange Beach are top notch. Tin Top in Bon Secour has lost a step but is still very good. Jesse's in Magnolia Springs is good enough to drive 45 minutes for.
However, the best thing to eat on the entire coast that is never mentioned is S&S Seafood. Its a small takeout fresh seafood place in the Waves strip center in Gulf Shores. They will steam royal red shrimp for you by the pound. I cant get out of the parking lot without tearing into them.

Thanks. Driven by there (over it) dozens of times without considering stopping. We launch the boat at Big Lagoon or the NAS at least 2-3 times the two weeks we are there each summer. I'm going to hit it up when we are there this year.

Bowens in Charleston (actually closer to Folly Beach) has great fried seafood, laid back atmosphere and one of the best sunset views you will find while eating dinner and looking across the endless marsh.
Another bonus while there is you might get to see dolphins “strand feeding” in the creek, like my family did several years ago. South Carolina is one of the few places in the world where dolphins do this. Search YouTube for some videos of it…..amazing animals.

I’m surprised destin-Rosemary beach area doesn’t have a good water park hotel like wolf or a performing arts center or a Costco in PC. Vue on 30a = best restaurant in area

Sadly, Jestine’s is closed. I like Poe’s when I go to Sullivans Island. Simple menu but good. Lots of high end options in Charleston, but kudos to whoever nominated Dave’s Seafood! My new favorite: Nigel’s Good Food. Southern soul food that won’t break your budget! If you’re wanting a hearty breakfast before hitting the beach/touring downtown, you can’t go wrong with Vicious Biscuit. Mt Pleasant and Summerville are the locations. But if price is no object, you should consider Halls Chophouse for steak and Charleston Grill for superb fine dining.

I forgot about which IIRC was about 3 years ago. Another I like downtown is Tommy Condons. But as many have mentioned so many great places to eat in the area.

They really are, that’s why I mentioned it earlier.
The only issue is that a lot of the big money families that have places in the area end up having their kids beach weddings there. So the restaurant ends up randomly closed every once in a while.

Solid place and it's normally free of tourists.

Nick's on the bay, across the bridge in Freeport, used to have some of the best steamed and/or fried soft shell crabs you will ever eat.
