As a widower who was previously divorced from a black woman (2nd wife was white)…societal norms are ever present. Black guys accepted my 2nd wife, no problem. White women wanted to know how my wife landed me! Black women? I was the Antichrist! If looks could kill, she would have been dead since 2011. But God kept us together until Dec 7, 2023. The last thing in the world I’m going to do is judge Coach Moore, because he could be me. I was blessed and he ended up being cursed. I pray that he can overcome his demons.

doubt illegals give a shite about Hoosiers vs Buckeyes.

4 of my grandsons (3 different households) were born after 2009. ALL 4 of them watched the game. Not one of them is a illegal alien.
Robert Neyland had the correct idea for bowl games over 75 years ago. He treated bowl games as a reward for the regular season. That cost Tennessee at least 2 additional mythical national championships (if my old timer memory still serves). Today’s bowl games and participating teams would be well served by going back to the past and treating the game as a reward for the regular season. You don’t need to bring EVERYONE associated with the athletic department. You don’t have to bring the bands. You don’t have to use the game as an excuse to have practices. Treat the bowl experience as a break even as far as costs to the program goes. It can be done

If these opt out trends continue, they’re going to be asking some 4-8 teams

North Dakota State got upset Saturday. They’re 12-1. I would actually watch them play a D-1 team in a bowl

Well…Bill Murray is still Director of Fun for the River Dogs. The SNL reference is still apropos!

Maybe it’s a cultural thing but I know a guy whose family name is on an SMU building that drinks Jim Beam. Also know four guys that own medical practices and drink Busch Light.

It’s cultural. My best friend is worth 7 figures and goes (figuratively) through DTs if he drinks any beer other than Bud or Busch. The few times he drinks hard liquor is only gin and juice.

Brother, my stepdaughter (really my daughter in my heart) is a Gamecock fan. I feel your pain. I am in possession of a half gallon of Tennessee’s FINEST moonshine made with mountain spring water. Jim Beam doesn’t cut it when it comes to fandom pain. A half pint of’shine WILL end your pain if it doesn’t end your life!

The thing I'm most excited to see next is the fundraising efforts by LSU to fund a contract obligation that they appear unable to meet. Car washes... Candy bars... Golf tourneys... Bake sales... Coupon books...

My granddaughter’s middle school band uses ALL of these, plus an oyster roast happening next month
So glad the service academies don’t have to concern themselves with NIL.
I’m not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but I could have sworn Penn went to the ACC review booth when he left the SEC.

When Katt Williams can do a entire routine about a county…Duval it is. He SAID Jacksonville, but we folks with a clue know it’s Duval.

I’m from Tennessee originally but have lived in Alabama as well (Huntsville). Went to Nashville for my birthday. For the first time in memory, I-65 was damn near a parking lot from Old Hickory down to 396. It used to take me 45 minutes from Nashville to Columbia. Not happening now
Now that I’m retired and a widower, I’m THERE when Tennessee finally plays Texas. I’ve been to Army-Navy. TN-TX is going to be glorious!

It is really hard to evaluate coaches at smaller programs these days without knowing the programs commitment to NIL. At one time Liberty had some pretty good players. They may now be getting plucked by bigger schools with deeper pockets. His results at Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina were very impressive.

There’s 2 programs he would like to run. Tennessee and Virginia Tech. His roots are in Appalachia. I met the man when he was coaching Charleston Southern. He WON at CHARLESTON SOUTHERN. Let that sink in. Just for curiosity’s sake, if you’re ever driving to Charleston on I-26, take a 3 minute detour off the US Route 78 exit. CSU is right off the interstate. Take a look at the facilities he had to work with. There are high schools with better stadiums AND football budgets. I thought VA Tech would grab him, but I guess they were snobbish about bringing him over from Liberty.

Much of this is correct, especially the part about the sand, but the main issue is combining all you said with the fact that its downwind of predominately westerly winds ascending down to a very low elevation a pretty good distance from the coast. The city is anywhere from 150-250 feet above sea level. Atlanta, while on almost the same latitude, is 1050 feet above sea level with no obstruction of cooler air from the north and west.

Checking in from Goose Creek (Charleston metro). Charleston can get absolutely hellish until the sea breeze kicks in. The problem with Columbia is that there’s no sea breeze. Ever. I will say that Columbia back in my younger days was my second favorite college town. Athens was my favorite! If you couldn’t get laid in Athens as a hetero male, you weren’t trying

The origin of “Neck”

LINK the original version

The HBCUs bands started playing Neck back in the 70’s. Today, it’s everywhere. LSU made it notorious, and it made me smile seeing Ole Miss use their profane lyrics against them!
quote:

Ole Miss playing Washington State and the Citadel

Lane will hang 100 on The Citadel. The Bulldogs are awful this season, even by SoCon standards. If ANY of his starters play after the 1st quarter, he should be charged with coaching malpractice

Being told that Jack Daniels is legally a bourbon really chaps their arse.

The difference between bourbon and Tennessee sipping whiskey is the EXTRA step…the Lincoln County Process. In short, anybody can make bourbon. Not everybody can make Tennessee whiskey. I’ve had Japanese whisky that will match up with anything from Kentucky. Scotland is still the gold standard for scotch tho!

frick off with this nonsense, your state does a shite job with water management up in the northwest of the state. You don't deserve access to the Tennessee River, you got an ocean, figure that shite out.

I’m still trying to figure out what the deal with Lake Oconee is. Is Georgia afraid of draining that reservoir? SC has no issues with Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie.
