You may be right. Of course if they flew instead of driving six and a half hours, they would still spend about an hour on a bus going to the airport, about an hour boarding and waiting to take off, an hour and a half flying, about thirty minutes getting off the plane and onto another bus and then about an hour on the bus to Auburn.

Not much of a difference actually except to message board peeps.

As far as being poor, nah just being smart with the money. Been doing that since before the pandemic.

What? You guys have always spent money like drunken sailors.

From buyouts to million dollar score boards to jock dorms.

This is a very real thing, and it's very serious.

The old man is dead right. This isn't where they should be cutting.

Bama flies everywhere except Starkville. Never really understood the point of taking a plane to Atlanta, Auburn, or Oxford

Not really. He adds something like 2 hours boarding and unloading the airplane....they would have to do the same thing for a bus, so that's a wash.

Not much of a cost savings with Charter Aircraft. You do not pay charters for a one way flight. The only savings was the layover cost and I am sure the Airlines are reducing that cost do to inactive aircraft do to Covid. This was a Lip Service attempt by the Athletic Director to show he is saving money.

I added an hour for boarding the plane and taxi time and a half hour to get off the plane and onto the bus. Boarding a bus is =/= boarding a plane.

No, it isn't. Boarding a bus probably takes longer for a football team. A bus has less room and the big linemen are not getting on there fast. MUCH less time boarding an airplane.

But hey....if you think it is so much better to ride a bus, maybe make that a sales pitch in recruiting. I can assure you the players would rather fly than take a bus.

I am a little surprised you can't seem to understand that. The damage alone it could do to recruiting makes it more expensive.

Auburn is a 6 1/2 hour bus ride from South Carolina?

Auburn really is a school in Georgia. The more you know.

Saving money for Malzahns buyout I see. Which former Auburn coordinator will Auburn hire next for their HC? Chizik, now Malzahn. Will they do a former Special teams coordinator?

I've said Petrino since the start.

Something like taking a bus instead of flying may sound small, but disrespect adds up. With teammates already lashing out on the sideline, Auburn's season could very well boil over with a loss this weekend.

Do they not normally fly into the airport in Auburn? I thought they recently did a bunch of upgrades to that airport.

They'd have the money to fly if they'd stop paying players.

I never that or implied that Dawg, I simply said there was not much actual difference.

I understand recruiting implications but personally, for work travel, if the drive is less than seven hours, I generally drive since actual travel time is near the same.

Usually fly into Montgomery. Auburn University Airport is not small for a university owned airport but is not normally used for 737 or larger aircraft.
