But hey....if you think it is so much better to ride a bus, maybe make that a sales pitch in recruiting. I can assure you the players would rather fly than take a bus.

I am a little surprised you can't seem to understand that. The damage alone it could do to recruiting makes it more expensive.
Damn right. Retain a coaching staff pulling +$8.5MM a year to turn in mediocre results but make the players ride home on a bus to “save” money and act fiscally responsible. Idiotic when anyone in the AD even considers to recruiting hit this decision will take.

WTH was the AD thinking? Auburn University is NOT the University at Buffalo.

Bama flies everywhere except Starkville. Never really understood the point of taking a plane to Atlanta, Auburn, or Oxford

They have 2 players on roster that is training to be pilots. They can’t pull some strings and see if they can’t get someone to fly them at a cheaper rate.

I see that University of Alabama English degree is really paying off

If looking for something incorrect with his post, grammar is not what I would have latched onto first.

Bama usually busses back from Oxford. I believe it depends on the time of the game. They bus to and from Auburn and Starkville.

Yes - they do. Last game I went to in Oxford, we flew in a small plane. On way home, team plane took off just in front of our’s. They fly to Auburn games also - don’t know which airport they fly into, but they travel by plane. They bus to Starkville.

Saving money for Malzahns buyout I see. Which former Auburn coordinator will Auburn hire next for their HC? Chizik, now Malzahn. Will they do a former Special teams coordinator?

The DL coach!

bullshite.

ETA It's less than a three hour drive. So you are saying bama flies from Tuscaloosa to B'ham, Montgomery, or Atl. and bus in from there?

Usually fly into Montgomery. Auburn University Airport is not small for a university owned airport but is not normally used for 737 or larger aircraft.

It used to be Montgomery. Nowadays they mainly use Columbus. Columbus built an FBO a while back for larger private aircraft to fly out of. If they wanted to use Montgomery, then Auburn would have to pay the fees associated with ramp usage since its in a shared space with the airlines. All the other sports (Baseball, Basketball, Gymnastics, etc.) use Auburn's airport and charter a Saab 2000 from a Texas based company called WildCat Touring. It's still a pretty big aircraft, requiring most of KAUO's 5,700 ft runway. Here is a picture of it in Auburn: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8507193

They are so short changed that they are still going forward with a $100 million dollar football only complex. Run like a government department . The money is always going to come in.

This is embarrassing and shows our new AD is in over his head. I can understand that he was put in a bad position with Gus' contract and the bloat in our AD, but to be so short-sighted as to not see the ramifications this could have on recruiting and team morale is just sad.
