Auburn taking busses to save money?

On JOX they said the Auburn football team is flying to games and taking a bus back to save money. A quick google search pulled up an article from Phillip Marshall confirming. I haven't heard about any other programs doing this. Sounds bush league.

Meanwhile, after flying as usual to South Carolina, Auburn football players and coaches rode 6 ½ hours on buses on the return trip. They will do the same Saturday returning from Ole Miss. I don’t believe I have to say that you won’t see players from the aforementioned programs making long trips on buses.
The reason, I am told, is that, with the cash shortage coming because of COVID-19, all sports were asked to cut where they could without having a negative impact. Not only does going second-class look bad, but asking young men to sit on a bus for more than six hours after 3 ½ hours of violent contact is quite a negative impact if you ask me.

But they’ve got enough to buy out Gus

Saving money for Malzahns buyout I see. Which former Auburn coordinator will Auburn hire next for their HC? Chizik, now Malzahn. Will they do a former Special teams coordinator?

I'm guessing Bo Nix and Seth Williams were on different busses.

Jordan bought a nice bus for those guys down the road in Birmingham.
Mebbe Barn could borry it.

that can't be good for the players.

Not gonna save enough to foot that buyout though

They lost to USCe. They deserve to ride the bus.
As far as being poor, nah just being smart with the money. Been doing that since before the pandemic.

Chad Morris not only destroys offenses but also finances too, it seems.

The team should fly back and they should give Gus a one way bus ticket back to Akansas

Once again, not coming from the same place.
I'm curious how many here have any clue how athletic departments actually operate.

I'm joking. I'm sure Auburn can afford his buyout, it's one of the top 15 AD's in revenue.

Will this be highlighted on recruit visits?
Official sponsor of Auburn Football...Megabus.
After Gus's buyout, if you see the Auburn team hitch hiking...give 'em a honk as you pass.

Dudes cramped up on buses for 5 hours a few hours after a violent SEC football game doesn't seem like the best recovery method.

Gus is determined not to be fired on a tarmac.
