Somebody has to have the inside info.
No matter how serious I'm sure he will make a killing in the portal.

Not sure but it is an interesting issue (not just him but all players that are dismissed now) due to NIL. I think there should be absolute transparency when a player is dismissed now that other folks' money goes to their pocket.

If you found out a guy cutting your lawn got fired from his day job, would you expect that company to tell you why he was fired? After all, you’re putting money in the guy’s pocket, right?
That’s how NIL technically works. You’re not paying players’ salaries to be on the football team. You’re contributing to an NIL organization that facilitates side income for players outside the scope of their football duties.

I agree. And that part above is why there should be transparency.

From what I understand, his original suspension was player lead. And he had a path to return. He just did not do what was necessary.
Who knows. Might be the best thing that happens to this team. Certainly did not hurt in Athens last weekend. I remember in Saban’s first year when he suspended DJ Hall who was an all-SEC receiver. Turned out to be a great move chemistry-wise. Let’s hope the same for Golesh.
The guy who was backing him up, Bryce Deas, is a helluva player so We don’t drop off in production much there even though Atkins was our best player.

It’s not the former teams’ responsibility to do homework for the shithead’s future team.

From everything I have heard (and who knows what is true and what isnt?) he was a just a bad teammate. He was supposed to be a leader and set an example to try and change the culture, yet he constantly had issues with coaches and other players, showed up late for meetings and everyone was just kinda sick of dealing with him all the time.
Again, I'm not in the building everyday, but that seems to be the consensus. I wish him well in his future and hate that it didn't work out, but at a certain point, everyone has to grow up.

As with all players, he made choices.
His choices resulted in suspension and then dismissal.

No inside info, but rumor is he was not doing the basic stuff. Showed up late or missed meetings and missed practices.
The supposed final straw was that he missed practice because he was sick and was seen in a bar later that night.
Other defensive players went to Golesh and asked that he be punished because he needed to be held to a higher standard since he was a team captain and supposed to be a leader.
I guess he decided he did not want to do what was asked of him to come back.

Direct quote from a source who would know.
“It's a combination of things. What eventually lead to the suspension was his teammates asking for him to be gone. Forced the coaches hand. But here are the main reasons.
1) fights with teammates(like full on fist fights)
2) late all the time
3) walking around practice and everyone having to run for it
4) did his own thing on plays(sometimes worked out)
5) disrespectful to everyone
6) Not showing up to a meeting and then telling his position coach he can't tell him what to do because he makes more than him.”
That's from Facebook, so we all know that to be true !

I bet most Alabama fans totally supported what happened with Hall. I mean, it was clear he had zero interest on the field when he wasn't getting the ball.
I didn't see that with Atkins, but coaches need to do more than just lip service to "culture change". If a player wasn't putting in the effort and wasn't a team player, show their arse the door and maybe they might learn talent alone is not enough.

Doesn’t sound like it was anything all that serious.
