Well, most of them at least, and that's why this year was so frustrating. Some of our guys played like it was the first time they had ever seen a baseball and played like they just stuck their pecker in a toaster.

Can he throw a strike? :moon:
Well, a stack of 25000 $1 bills would be 10.1 inches tall, so it looks like he has at least $50k there and I seriously doubt they are all $1 bills.

Maybe he has a side gig, but I'm sure some of that is related to UTk.

Most NIL deals seem to have an upfront "signing bonus" built in and then an ongoing payment. Since it can't be tied to play/performance, whatever has been paid to him already is pretty much gone. Hopefully it wasn't much and that schools/boosters will learn from these situations.

Any one else in portal now?

No, since it hasn't officially opened yet. These announcements are just about intent when it does open.

That's a steep price tag. If Ole Miss is smart they will just give them the finger. The NCAA has no subpoena power.

Since a formal complaint was made and it is an official investigation OM is required to comply, or they face penalties for noncompliance. Either way it is probably a slap on the wrist at most, but who knows The NCAA is desperate for a win. They will comply but probably won't face anything to worry about.

How about those with a large amount of $$$ spend/donate it as they wish and those who don't contribute anything but bitching on the Rant just be grateful and enjoy being an LSU fan.

And for an extra special Christmas wish this year maybe our "fans" could stop wishing to destroy the sports they don't like, especially when those programs bring Championships and positive attention to the University.

Surprised LSU decided it needed a scout team QB this late.

Not really a need but his dad is on staff as an analyst, so I'm sure that factored in.
They all get failing grades but the loss to A&M was a huge victory for the football program.

Does the NCAA have the authority to demand images of those phones? I'd tell em to come get it.

Yes, they do.

"Thanks for speaking with us earlier today," the associate director wrote in the email to Hall. Additionally, please let this email serve as a reminder that the institution and its representatives have an affirmative and automatic duty under Bylaw 19.2 to preserve all relevant materials."

How do you think LSU will look this year? LSU AD Ausberry says to expect a $25-35 million dollar deficit at LSU.

You are being disingenuous being so selective in what you post from that interview with Verge.

We’re all talking about this – the athletic directors in the conference, we’re all talking about how we’re going to make this work. And we’re in better financial positions than a lot of people. If we didn’t have that buyout ($54 million to Kelly), we’d be in great shape. But right now, with the buyout, yeah that’s going to strain us a little bit.

. Our football season ticket sales are off the chart right now. We had 32,000 requests (up to 44,000 now). We are way over. Our corporate sponsors are at about 25 percent over. Our fund raising is way over.

LSU will run a deficit short term like many programs but is in good long-term shape. LSU spent big money on football because it is the engine that powers the AD.

re: ABS differences - MLB vs SEC

IMHO the size of the zone isn't as important as consistency. As long as the zone is consistent pitchers and hitters can settle in. The problem is when the zone changes constantly and has the players second guessing everything.
So far out of 20 challenges 18 were by catcher and 2 by batters and zero for pitchers so it looks like all of the teams so far have the same strategy.
For anyone that hasn't checked you can go to the link, go to the bottom and click on "All Challenges" and it lists the info on each one and allows you to watch a replay of every challenge. Pretty neat.

https://sec-abs.web.app/challenges#log
You get 3 in regular play but keep the challenge if you win and get 1 per inning in extra innings if you are out but they don't rollover.
For those that are unable or don't want to watch all of the games but are interested. Will be very interesting to see the stats at the end of the tournament.

Every ABS challenge from the 2026 SEC Baseball Tournament — with success rates by team, hitter, catcher, and pitcher. Updates in real time during games.

https://sec-abs.web.app/challenges#teams

So far all challanger have been by catcher an a 78% overturn rate.
I hate what college sports have become and hope that rules will be put in place to restore some sort of order but until then I want LSU to push the boundaries since other programs will be.

I prefer actual victories and being competitive instead of moral victories while having a losing record.
It is straight from the SEC https://sec-abs.web.app/

Go to the page and you can click on the picture to see what would be considered a strike. it seems generous.
At least if we don't get a baseball miracle. I hope the system works well and becomes standard in SEC games.

It will be interesting to see who Jay give the green light to challenge since coaches are not allowed to initiate or signal and if he has a preference for using them on the pitching or hitting side.

quote:

01
Overview
The home plate umpire will call balls and strikes unaided by ABS. Each team will be permitted to challenge an individual strike or ball call (on either offense or defense) by appealing to the appropriate call of the pitch as determined by ABS.

A challenge may occur at any point in a plate appearance — including the end of an appearance (e.g., a walk, called strike three, or hit by pitch). The defensive team cannot challenge a strike, and the offensive team cannot challenge a ball.

If a coach etc. signals to challenge the challenge is lost.

This is what will cause the most controversy by those not knowing the rules ABS operates under since stance and framing have no effect.
