Aside from $$$$ and letting crappy reams have a shot, why 24?

4 teams is ideal...makes the regular season fricking matter. Now you can go 8-4 and still get in.

I think 8 was the obvious stopping point and they slipped right over it.

It's still going to bear out most years that one of the Top 4 wins it all. There might be an outlier a time or two each decade.

When the top 7 teams in the SEC are 9-3 you will appreciate te24team format

The advantage of having 24 is it allows you to play bigger games during the regular season without costing you a shot at the playoffs.

It should be mythical, 2 teams or even more than 24. We see in the SEC this year that playing a tough schedule eliminates teams with only 12 selected. Unless you can balance the schedule..:and you can’t…let 48 in.

Well the 8th seed won the first 12 team playoff. And only 1 team from the top 4 seeds has ever made the final 4.

I seriously doubt we need 720 teams in the playoffs. I mean, come on man...

because you can tell your fans "we made the playoffs!" and also as a coach it's impossible to get fired if younfinish top 24

I’m all for crappy teams getting a shot if they win there conference(especially at 24), it’s easy to sit and your couch and tell crappy teams nice job but you don’t belong. If the conference is so bad(and many cases it is) that conference needs to be bumped down or let em in the playoffs.

4 teams is not even close to enough. 8 maybe. 12 definitely. 16 pushing it.

24 is absurd. Every team with a pulse is going to make the playoffs plus a few terrible ones.
