SEC Fines South Carolina $500,000 After Win Over Tennessee

USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect
The Southeastern Conference announced Sunday that South Carolina has been fined $500,000 after fans stormed the field following Saturday's 27-24 victory over No. 11 Tennessee.
Gamecock fans rushed the field at Williams-Brice Stadium to celebrate the upset win, violating the SEC's policy regarding access to competition areas.
Under conference rules, the $500,000 fine will be paid directly to Tennessee.
Ironically, the Volunteers were fined the same amount last week after their fans stormed the field following a 26-10 victory over Alabama.
The SEC announced the fine Sunday on social media.
