You mean they hired a coach with SEC experience that doesn't have a shitty resume??

What a terrible idea. I don't believe you

If I have to spell this out for you it isn't going to be a very productive conversation

Look man. I melted too when the news first broke. I've had time to digest it. I'm still not blown away by the hire, I'm going to wait for the PC, and see who he hires for his staff. Either he flames out like Bert and he is in over his head (my first assumption) or he wins at a decent clip and builds something here. He needs to win quickly though as our fan base has clearly become impatient.

Yeah, maybe so...but they're still arkansas and they are still in the sec west, and that isn't gonna change. Same ole shite, different coach.

don't know who you would prefer but if it's Norvell you were hoping for his defenses have been just as bad. This year it's 121st in the country vs. 122nd, so take your pick:

Overall Total Defense

And frankly the only reason Venables would consider coming to Arkansas as the DC is because of Morris - I know money talks but I'm willing to bet you he isn't leaving Clemson for another coordinator position for just anybody, money be damned.

I don't know how this ends but you've made the smart hire. Good luck to you.

I agree, OP. This is probably the best HC hire in the SEC.

Really mediocre hire, not sure why anyone would be excited about hiring a guy whose best season was 7-5, you just fired your 7-5 coach.

When you really look into this hire is actually appears to have potential the be huge for the Hogs. They need Texas recruits and offense to have a fighters chance.

We seem to switching our focus to Texas in a big way over the last week or so. We just hired SMU's head coach and Houston's AD, a pretty clear sign we intend to focus our recruiting and money raising efforts in that state.

Which makes sense, we have had only sporadic success in recruiting in the Deep South. If we are going to be consistently successful then its going to be keeping all the Arkansas talent at home while hitting Texas and La. for additional players.
