This might just work...Lebby is 41 and we know that Oklahoma State has done well when their coaches are able to exclaim they are 40.

What was the benefit of adding Arkansas and South Carolina in 1992
I was 16 when Arkansas joined the SEC (and I got high a LOT back then...), so take this for what its worth. In many ways Arkansas started the expansion idea because Frank Broyles wanted out of the SWC badly. It was a toxic all Texas+1 conference with a lot of very well documented problems. The only other conference we were even remotely interested in was the SEC. At that time Arkansas was very much down in football but had been quite successful in the previous decade but was on a high note in basketball. The SEC wanted to legitimize it's basketball status so Arkansas was brought in to be the foil to Kentucky.
So at the time of joining, what Arkansas brought to the SEC was a consistently great basketball team and a decent football program. That proved true because the basketball team then went on to challenge Kentucky immediately, making the SEC no longer a one horse show. The SEC then overall greatly increased basketball investment which started slow but has led to where it is today. We never held up our end of the bargain in football even though we had some success in the late 90s and intermittently since then but have been a doormat as often as a challenger. We also brought a baseball team fresh off three consecutive college world series visits that languished a little to start but has been kicking arse for quite some time since.

Does KJ Jefferson looking to blow up a safety every so often count? He would have been so fricking good at outside linebacker it isn't even funny.

Their last good coaching hire was in 2005 and he quit after 5 years because the job almost killed him.
Well, it was the other people who were killed by the team that led him to quit I think.

Is end stage syphilis treatable yet? I know that early on antibiotics can clear it up, but once it advances this far is there much that can be done besides hospice?

If I'm Arkansas I'm calling Jeff Gundy's agent this morning. I bet he's chomping for a fresh start and getting his creative juices flowing again. I think he would be a great fit at Arkansas as long as the school commited to providing the resources for NIL.
Jeff Gundy? We have a basketball coach and I'm not sure he would be a good fit anyway haha.
I guess you meant Mike Gundy?

Wright's is incredibly good BBQ. The original location in Johnson is closed for a while for remodeling and utility improvements in the area, but the Rogers location is not only much closer to Walmart HQ but is just as good.
Fox Trail is decent. I really like their gin (they sell it at Sam's Club) but I've never tried any of their whiskey nor have I ever been to their actual distillery but know several people who have and had a good time.

US 65 from Conway AR to Harrison AR isn't TOO bad (not like AR 7 which is a fun road to drive in something sporty but a bad road to ride in a bus), then from just north of Harrison AR to Columbia MO its a decent 4 lane divided highway the whole way.
re: A few months back on the board, I mentioned an Arkansas WR and asked why he
Posted by jdevers on 8/27/25 at 9:21 am to koreandawg
He had outrageously solid hands (like cheating level sticky hands) and he was decently fast in the open field. He was not great at getting open and his first few steps were not the quickest. Now look at our team. Our QB was not great at reading progressions and our offensive line was offensive and not much of a line. When we could protect long enough to set up a deep play, he was often the target. That rarely happened though. Also Armstrong did an amazing job of doing exactly the things we needed (getting open and doing it quickly, great YAC, incredible blocking). Bad timing and placement. He truly could have been a star on a team with few fewer glaring weaknesses in its offensive unit.

I remember when spoiled Malzahn cucks in Arkansas were angry that Malzahn didn't get the Arkansas job in 2008, and they openly trashed Bobby Petrino on message boards for leaving flyers in the Atlanta Falcons locker room, informing the players by paper memos that he was leaving.
2008? I'm damned sure not a "Malzahn cuck" but he isn't even on the top 10 of our former (and current) coaches I'm mad about haha. Sometimes you just have to let shite die. Just say frick Chad Morris like the rest of us.

Evans threw 68 yesterday morning and 11 in game 1 against us, Williams threw 21 and Shores threw 11 in your UCLA game, Shores also threw 10 in the game against us.
Those low pitch counts wont really matter so both teams still have capable arms for sure.

What's more important to your average SEC Baseball fan, winning the regular season or winning the SEC tourney?
Regular season by a mile. Its baseball, winning the tourney means you are decent and care about winning the tourney. I think with the new format we will have far fewer good teams just all but trying to go 0-1 to save their pitchers, now the teams that get a bye and especially the double bye teams will just be on their normal rotation so the quality of games should be much better but also the winner will probably be on average a better team than before this change. But even so winning the regular season all but guarantees a national seed, winning the tourney just guarantees you a spot in post-season.

re: Chips are down: How nice would it be if OU and UTa are both left out of the tournament

The lowest seed to ever win it all was in 1985 when 8th seeded Villanova won it all. A 16 seed has never even reached the Sweet Sixteen.
Yea. In 1993 we were #11 and UK was #2 when we beat them. In 1994 we were #3 and UK was #4 when we beat them. And in 1995 we were #9 and they were #5 when they beat us.

Well we have a few more than that which all share a last name that each have more money than all those put together, but they are even less interested in sports.

A lot of angry Arkansas fans in here. Why the dislike on the Mizzou pairing?
Because last year we had roughly as many people in our stadium watch us play Ole Miss as Missouri fans watched them play all season. When we played there the highest attendance was just over 1,000 and more than half of those were our fans that travelled. If that was a uniquely bad year for them, it would be bad but that’s normal. It isn’t so much that they aren’t good at baseball, it’s that they don’t care about baseball from the administration to the program to the fans (or lack thereof).
